Are these decent lights? I am looking at getting set up for a chroma key photography studio as well as just digital photography. I was told that that I should get 500w bulbs and that I needed two lights to evenly light the chroma key as well as 2-3 lights for lighting the subject. What do you think of these lights?

CCC,

Don't be supprised at the lack of responses here. I doubt many (if any) of our regular members have much experience with chroma-key shooting. I know I don't...

What I can tell you is that those light kits you list are pretty basic Smith Victor hot light sets. Neither one throws off that much illumination, the first being roughly twice as powerful as the second.

I also should mention that the most important factor with chroma-key is a BRIGHT, EVENLY lit background. I doubt either light kit here would be enough for that...

I'd look at 1K (1000W) lights minimum...
