Just got back from my first sports shoot. Basketball, and it was very ummm.... Interesting! You sports shooters got your work cut out, hopefully I will join ya soon, after all it was a blast.

When the results come back, (if any good) I'll post em. However, I am not feeling confident, I never realized how difficult it could be, you guys get my respect!

Ok, let me have it... this is from the first roll. Shot in A mode wide open with a 28-100mm 3.5-5.6

I tend to favor the b/w as the noise isn't so much a factor. Unless you have top of the line lighting in the venue it's always difficult to get a quality shot without blurring, noise, and other things. It also helps to have a wider aperture than 3.5......even 2.8 requires a push in the ISO. O/w, not bad.

not bad for film. wish the first shot were closer, and it'd be much better.

I really like the bottom shot! All I'd do is crop it to get rid of the excess and bring the action closer. But I really like the motion blur :) :)

Thanks alot for your replies! I made a mistake, this was off the 4th roll, and I was tired (work overnight, no sleep, yadda). So, perhaps the others will be better. When I started just firing for no reason, figured it was time to go.

BTW - It is a private school, and they were very fun to work with. They understood this was a first for me, and don't expect anything. However, it is very possible that if I return even a few shots, they may use me for more (and other) events. The kids were excited, the school's admin team was very freindly...it was nice!

The noise is actually due to sharpening after scanning and all that crap, plus the iso is 800...

oops, I meant I wish the LAST shot were closer. my b. But yeah, film isn't very good for keeping the noise/grain levels down. That's why i prefer digital for indoor. I still like shooting film outdoor just for fun, except I never get around to developing it.
