I realized yesterday that the title of the board is "nature" and "wildlife." We're covering wildlife pretty good, I think, but what about nature shots that don't involve wildlife? I thought maybe we could share sunsets. This is one of the few I've taken that I like. Show us yours...

Here is one from film that I took in Sedona from my deck :) Not a great file, but I assure you that is the true color/saturation of the sky.

I am obviously joking about the saturation, but it was only a little less saturated ;)

BTW.. That is 19mm on film and the hill is 2-3 miles away. It's really bad scan , but it's a sunset ;)

My wide angle lenses don't do well for taking pictures of birds...but sunsets are good.

Wow, gosh almighty there have been some very nice images in this thread. I have heard it stated that every picture of a sunset is the same image, and in most cases I tend to agee. There isn't much creativity put into this subject. Most people think of sunsets in a P&S frame of mind, but I think the images in this thread show that it dosn't have to be that way.

Thanks for posting all of the awesome shot guys!

I took it with a smart car owners magazine cover in mind.
Never came to fruition :(

These shots were all taken within 1/2 hour and are straight out of the camera with no PS work. Within an hour we had a thunderstorm.

thunderstorms make the BEST sunsets. I wish I had been at our house in Maine when there was a thunderstorm, but I had gone home early for a training thing for school. My parents took some snapshots, and the color was absolutely fantastic. I'll try to find them.

The colors on these are just strange though. Kind of makes you curious as to why they changed so much so quick. Only thing I can think of is dust ahead of the storm.

iamfunk,
Those are very beautiful sunset pictures, I have a question though with the one with the boat, How did you not get a sharp glare of light? Many of my pictures are ruined by the sun and I have a hard time capturing it like that? I would love to know some tips. Thanks

I know what you mean. Puerto Vallarta is very romantic and quite charming. Their port is usually full of cruise ships. I really love the place. The sunsets are remarkable as are the Mexican people.
