First, if you try to capture the moon in the sky while using a wide angle lens to capture it in a landscape , it comes out far too small. Also, especially when it gets dark outside, the proper exposure for the moon as opposed to the rest of the scene are far apart. In order to get accurate exposure for your foreground and scape, you will blow out the moon as a bright white circle with no detail, and vice versa. For me, I have had fairly good results by using double exposures. This is when you take two or more exposures on a single frame. I usually first zoom in on the moon placing it in the frame where I want it in the scene and then expose for it. Usually it will be a fast shutter as the moon is bright. I then use a wider angle lens and compose the rest of the scene but be sure to not include the moon, and expose for this . Tripod needed of course especially since this second exposure will be a long shuttr opening. This method of double, or multiple exposing requires practice and trial and error. Give it a try and keep at it. adina 08-26-2005, 09:37 AM I think Speed does this frequently. If he doesn't post here, you might want to pm him. ~A |
