Good one. Good timing. The batter looks a little too centered to me.

Good point. I could have taken the time to crop it to put the emphasis on the hitter, but I just wanted to see what everyone had to say or offer critiques/suggestions. I'll work on it and repost.

I would suggest a little less DOF, the guys in the dugout are a little distracting. A little blur would help....

Nice catch of the action, but have to agree with SunnySideUp need less DOF. Those guy in the dugout don't add anything to the image. You can also apply a little blur and some burn in PS and achieve some of the same effect. The bottom line is you got the shot, nice job.
Great shot! The crop optimizes the this photo. You've got it all with the bat in pieces the ball just off the ground and the shadows. Might have like to see the catcher and ump in the crop but for the broken bat subject, this works. Nice capture.
If you print this, the previous suggestions about blurring the background are a good idea.
By the way, how close were you or how long of a lens?

yeah, I did have the catcher and umpire in the previously uncropped image that I first posted. I can work on the image further to get that blur. I was behind the third base dugout using a D70 with a 70-300ed lens (Nikkor) @ 135mm stopped to 4.5 @ 1/2000 sec
