I would like my clients to be able to upload their digital pictures to my website. Is there any software that will do this or do I have to rely on html coding? Or would it be better to have customers use a free picture sharing service like snapfish.com, where I can download their pictures from that site? I would appreciate any ideas or recommendations.

Thanks,
Angie

I have to admit that I have no idea how you'd do this, but - if you can get away with using snapfish or something else like it, why not? It works, it's already setup and it's free (or close to it). This usage might not work with their license agreement - just a thought, you might want to check it out.

Other than the possible license agreement conflict, the only other downside I can think of is that it wouldn't look as professional and polished as having your own way to upload photos. Your clients would also have to sign up with that service to upload photos which might be a turn-off. I guess you have to take all that into account and see if it's worth pursuing your own way of uploading.

You might also have them simply email them to you as an attachment. (assuming we are talking about a manageable number) That would give you the chance to review them before they are posted. It would also be a little more secure.

Angie, more information about the file size would be helpful. Are you wanting them in printable size or just for the web use size. It really is an important bit of information.

Thanks to those of you who have responded so far.

I would need the pictures to be pretty high quality. I make DVD photo montages, so people send 50 or more photos. E-mail works but I'm not even sure how to tell them to send them through email--a few at a time since the file would be so big or through some program like Picasa (I'm not sure if you lose image quality there though).

Some people provide photo CDs, which are fine, but I'd prefer to make it as easy as possible for the client.

This sort of site would probably work for you then.
