I'm kind of 50/50 on this one. It's different from what I usually photograph (i.e. nature & kids), but I do like patterns and lines, and the lamps all in a row really appealed to me. What do you think?

Emily livin4lax09 07-22-2005, 07:13 PM nice subject, but I think the recurring pattern would make this photo much stronger. Crop a bit off the right, and with a bigger DOF, it should be good. Any chance for a reshoot? Maybe move your vantage point a bit to the left also? gahspidy 07-22-2005, 10:54 PM Good subject and not a bad catch. i would also move the front lamp over to the right (or left) and have the patterns run across the frame diagonally. Similiar to what you have now, but starting at one side and ending up at the other side. Also, try setting that very composition up with a zoom like 200mm or more. stand back to get it into composition. This will blur the rest of the scene and bg by limiting the dof as zooming in does. Good eye for a scene. CB Photo 07-23-2005, 05:06 AM Hello I like what you are doing here. My comments are the red in the background is distracting and the subject starts in the center and moves the eyes to the left (not natural for us english reading people...ie "Hard-passage" but effective at times). I do like the pattern of the repeating lights and how the first one is crisp! Anyway, just my thoughts, hope to see more of your photographs. julsoph 07-23-2005, 05:57 AM Thank you all for your suggestions on this...I really appreciate it! I'll definitely go back and try reshooting it...with some of the ideas that you all gave me. I wasn't sure about the red either, Chris, so thanks for the feedback about its distraction. Emily |
