OK, does anyone know why some of their equipment says
just "Nikon" and others
say "Nikon...blah blah blah..Nikkor"?
or just "Nikor blah blah."?

is this a quality issue. what the heck is Nikor in the grand scheme of photography and is it something i should be paying attention to when buying gear?

i can't seem to figure this out.... i guess it's a history question...?

to the best of my knowledge and a quick check via google is concerned nikkor is the trade name for nikons optics products... there is no quality issue here, nikon = nikkor = nikonos

I don't know about nikon vs. nikkor but I believe nikonos has to do with under water.

Your right ijoe. Nikkor is the optical division of Nikon.
