Wow, what a great calling for a meet!! Those interesting pics of you and John and that delicious looking cheesy slice have me wanting to fly out there from the East Coast.( and some good strong coffee, as well) Definetely sounds to be a great outing.

The lovely Rebekah will be able to attend. But I blew it and got my schedule mixed up. I will be out of town next Thursday night. But the pizza is awesome and Bay Area people should go. We need to get some face-to-face community going here. Even if I can't be there this time, I plan to make this a regular part if my weekly schedule. I hope some of the rest of you will, too.

And just because you don't live in the Bay Area doesn't mean you can't join us. Just start a pizza night wherever you live! We can all be together in the spirit of cheese, sauce, and crust!

Ruling out acts of God(ess), I will be there this week. I need a fun night out, and I want some of that cheesy, garlicky pizza.

Sorry about flaking for two weeks in a row.

And I noticed that maybe this has started a trend. That's great!

Hmm. I get a little mystified on this "Nor Cal" thing. I live in Nor Cal, like 20 minutes from the Oregon border. The Bay Area may technically be in the northern half of the state, but realistically it's more like part of the central section of the state. If you divide CA into thirds, you get a better idea of what are the northern, central, and sourthern parts of the state. Redding is northern, SF is central, and LA is southern. That's my take on it, anyway. The Bay Area is like eight hours away, which makes it a two or three day trip for me. Unfortunately I may be in the minority when it comes to PR Jefferson State denizens. So I guess it'll have to be pie in front of the 'puter, beer included. You guys have fun and pour one for me! :D

Someday, when you can get your dogs harnessed up and get out of the woods, maybe you'll make it down here :p

I have a friend in Marin and he claims that anything south of the Golden Gate is Southern California. To me, Southern California is a more a state of mind. Dirty Nor Cal starts in SLO. I'm sorta partial to Grass Valley and Truckee. San Jose is definitely feeling more and more like LA.

Holy cow Brian is right,

That is the most unappetizing pizza I have ever seen.

DON'T MAKE ME COME UP THERE!!

John, I know you're from Canada, and a mountain bike dude and all, but fercryin'outloud, can you speak ENGLISH?!?

Translation, PLEASE?!? :D

And, BTW, I think all the "west coast pizza pics" posted so far confirm what I and every East Coast member already know:

New York pizza is the only REAL pizza! You folks out west have my sympathy... ;)

SLO= San Luis Obispo.
Nor Cal is a brand, but everyone dubs it as their own these days if they are from Nothern California.
And as far as I'm concerned, the best pizza resides at Pizzeria Naturale in Milano, Italy.

Thanks for the "Cal-speak" translate, Rebekah. Like a lot of things, it makes sense once it's explained... :)

"And as far as I'm concerned, the best pizza resides at Pizzeria Naturale in Milano, Italy..."

Now, I would not doubt that for a second. And believe me, I'd love to find out for myself one of these days...

Nor Cal was Nor Cal before Nor Cal. Back before someone realized they could market it, there were already people living it. But I have to admit. I'm getting kinda tired of all those stickers on the back windows of big black pickup trucks. Reminds me of "Oakley - Thermonuclear."

My favorite pizza can be found at Stromboli's, at St. Marks and 1st Avenue.

Better get this out of your system before you come to Chicago.

Heard great things about that Florida pizza... When my Dad visits here from Florida, the first thing he does is go out for pizza. And we're 90 miles away from the pizza center of the universe (OK, USA anyway), Chicago IL!

"Heard great things about that Florida pizza..."

New York pizza can be found most everywhere up and down the East Coast. There actually are a couple of good New York pizza places in Central Florida, it just took me a long time to find them...

"Better get this out of your system before you come to Chicago..."

Hmmm, not to cause an uproar amongst my Midwest friends, but truth is, I only ate Chicago-style pizza the first year I visited. Sorry, didn't like it. Way too much bread (crust)... :(

BTW, ten minutes is a long time for a New Yorker to wait for some pizza, and I seem to recall the Chicago-style pie taking 45 MINUTES or so. That's another strike against it, heh heh...

But I did find a New York pizza place right off of Magnificent Mile, so if the urge strikes while I'm in town, THAT'S probably where I'll be... ;)

Well...yeah, of course, but since A.S. didnt get the slang, I was thinking he'd recognize branding. :) Funny I call Southern California SoCal.... is that a brand yet? ;)

Yummy- we should do that next, change up the venue, maybe more people will attend.

That said... when is everyone's (and I mean more than just the three of us...) next free day for this?
