I need a new point and shoot.... and I actually bought the Coolpix 4800; but I have 14 days to return it and I'm deciding to keep it or exchange it for the Canon S1.

I want a nice zoom for my point and shoot; which is why I am deciding between these two.

I've read mixed reviews of the 4800 and it's body..... but I liked that it could take close ups; however when I got it, anytime I tried to take a close up it was very hard to get the focus to stabalize..... Hmmmm.

Just looking for your thoughts.

I think it would be nice to have the IS feature, in the Canon. I know it works great.

If you're having focus problems with close-ups, it might be the way you're shooting. Every camera has a minimum focus distance. If your'e too close, it won't focus. Check your manual to find out how close you can get and if there are suggestions for you to shoot close up photos. A tripod helps, too. Make sure to use the macro mode for really close photos.
