I am very much a beginner and am attempting to learn the basics. While I can spell camera, most of the time, I am in need of help on a new camera purchase.

I am considering the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ4S. One of the main purposes of the camera will be for my business. I operate a mobile DJ business and take pictures during our events and post some of the pictures through my website for our clients.

As you know, taking pictures in low light, of moving objects, and actually being able to capture the effects is not on the easy end. But the camera also needs to be capable of daytime shots as well, as this camera will also certainly be used for personal purposes as well as business. And a decent zoom capability is very much needed. I can't always get as close as I would like or really need to.

What are your opinions of this camera or is there something else that may be quite suitable with the same basic capabilities and in the same price range? If it did not require propriotary batteries would be a great plus as well.

This camera has a decent apature range for what you want, but it lacks the ISO rating. It only goes up to 400, and in a low light situation that will mean flash photography.

If I were you I would look at picking up one of the 6mp Digital Rebels that are droping in price since the intro of the Rebel XT. Paired with a fairly fast lens this camera would do the job you want, and still have the ease of use you are looking for.

The pair of links below are a good example of what you would need.
