View Full Version : Question for you Sebastion
Trevor Ash 05-17-2005, 11:28 AM Under your avatar it says "When I think about you, I mo-der-rate". Is that a reference to that popular song back in about 1992 with the words "When I think about you, I touch myself?"
Because that's just creepy :)
Trevor Ash 05-17-2005, 11:29 AM P.S. I've been meaning to ask you that question for a long time :D
another view 05-17-2005, 12:11 PM Was that the Divinyls? Am I dating myself? :p
Yeah, it was, had to look it up here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000000WHJ/qid=1116360640/sr=8-1/ref=pd_csp_1/102-4237601-5220955?v=glance&s=music&n=507846) to be sure. This is one of those questions I was afraid to ask, but I'm curious...
Sebastian 05-17-2005, 12:12 PM Yup, it's a play on that song. :)
Asylum Steve 05-17-2005, 12:17 PM That's a big TEN-FOUR, good buddy. 1991 song by The Divinyls, one of Australia's best New Wave bands. Funny that it took them almost ten years to have a mainstream hit in the US...

Hey, you're just figuring out that Seb has a creepy side?!?!? :D
Trevor Ash 05-17-2005, 01:02 PM Hmmph. I was off by a year when I guessed 92 :)
And Sebastian, stop thinking about me.
Yup, it's a play on that song. :)
Lol, now that's a good one. Well, I personally associate that song to Austin Powers International Man of Mystery (the first of the series and its funky soundtrack).
Neat choice.
Seb
jar_e 05-17-2005, 02:22 PM Yup, it's a play on that song. :)
Interesting, a tad disturbing, but interesting:p

Now THAT scene (with the fem-bots) was CREEPY! :D
megan 05-17-2005, 03:01 PM That's a big TEN-FOUR, good buddy.
While we're on music trivia, who recorded that line above in the song "Convoy" and what year?
(Talk about dating myself.... I loved that song as a kid. Convoy, that is...)
Megan
another view 05-17-2005, 03:54 PM Cletus McGraw? I'll guess the year, 1978. I didn't look it up like the other one (which I thought was late 80's).
I'm only worried if I'm actually right. :D

Who starred in it?
Brian
another view 05-17-2005, 06:35 PM Arrgh - memory is the second thing to go.
We actually had a conversation about wierd songs like thie a couple of months ago on a slow day at work (I guess it was really slow). There's another song along those lines by a Cletus something or other... Can't help with movies though.
Now if I could just get that Divinyls song out of my head...
mtbbrian 05-17-2005, 07:21 PM Now if I could just get that Divinyls song out of my head...
You poor man!
I am NOT going to let that song enter my head!
You had better listen to something else!
Play your James McMurtry that will help!

the only one i'm certain of is kris kristofferson. Wasn't a bad movie as i recall ( but then i was only tiny when i saw it). I'm sure it can't have aged that well but then peckinpah films can surprise you some times (thinking of billy the kid one)
chris
paulnj 05-19-2005, 07:01 AM I thought only kids about 8 or 9 years old used the word "creepy."
no Gene ;) Lot of older people call me that daily ... AND IT MAKES ME SMILE too :)
Should I admit that I have it somewhere on mp3? A friend's husband asked me if I could find it for him a few years ago.
Danielle
What's a peckinpah film?
David Samuel Peckinpah (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001603/bio), actor, director, writer.

That changes everything! :D Just because I don't...
I guess I can admit that my band does more current rock style covers of Jessie's Girl and I Ran... Actually goes over very well but that's towards the end of the night (you can probably figure the rest out!).
That's awesome - I actually got five extra points on my final last week (web programming), because question # 9 was: Who wishes he had Jesse's girl? I never thought Rick Springfield would be useful to me, but there you go.

Steve, I would love to see your band someday. Do you have a mailing list that you send out your schedule to?

Wow! Cool - talked to Sebastian about it too but he's been pretty busy lately. The next one is a festival so it's not so late. We're playing Friday 6/17 from 6-8 at the Taste of Rockford (http://www.tasteofrockford.com/). Sorry - it's a flash site... Click on entertainment, we're Stevee Nix. I'm the dork on the right for those of you who haven't met me.
Story behind the name: Two Steves, two Nicks - no Fleetwood Mac. We don't really have a schedule that we mail out just yet but at some point we'll work on a website. We're keeping it to about once a month but probably two in July and Aug - PM me if you're interested.
Danielle, we did that song in February as a sort-of joke because Rick Springfield was here the week before doing his concert DVD. Should be out soon if you're interested! :p Kind of made it in the permanent list when it went over well...

Hey Steve,
You guys need to build a website. My brother's band has one, which tells about them.

And the photo on the opening page was taken by your's truly.
