Thanks. nancymac 07-22-2005, 02:33 PM They are terrible. I put an order for a camcorder and paid $150 for expedited shipping. I got a call next day because they wanted to sell me extra battery and other accessories. I said no and the camera did not show up. I called back after a couple of days because the camera had not shown up and I was told that they do not have it in stock. They were not even apologetic about it. Nevadadave 11-02-2005, 03:45 PM Has anyone bought anything from http://www.bestpricecameras.com? Are they bait and switch company? Thanks. These people offer low prices once you order they subject you to high pressure upsales If you dont buy the upsale items, you don't get you order.. Bottom Line STAY AWAY kelly.bean 11-09-2005, 11:44 PM I almost bought a camera from them after I read about the infinitiphoto.com scam... but here is why I didn't: I did a WHOIS query from netsol.com, which tells you who owns that domain name (i.e. google.com or infinitiphoto.com). I did it first on infinitiphoto and came up with this: Brian Peterson Joey Saideh brooklyn brooklyn, ny 11223 US Email: blcl99@aol.com Next I did a WHOIS query on bestpricecameras.com: Registrant: Brian Peterson Joey Saideh brooklyn brooklyn, ny 11223 US Email: blcl99@aol.com So there ya go... they are the same company... I am cancelling my order infinitiphoto.com tomorrow morning (I JUST found out it was a scam) and I've already ordered my camera now from buydig.com which has a ton of helpful reviews, plus their kit isn't too bad either. Good luck buying :) Just don't buy from them!!! :( swmdrayfan 11-12-2005, 06:50 AM After seeing all the horror stories regarding 'low price, good deal' on-line camera sellers, the more I believe in sticking to places like B & H. I'd much rather pay their prices and KNOW I'm going to get a square deal with no hassles and no hidden costs. RayFromAlaska 11-15-2005, 06:33 PM After seeing all the horror stories regarding 'low price, good deal' on-line camera sellers, the more I believe in sticking to places like B & H. I'd much rather pay their prices and KNOW I'm going to get a square deal with no hassles and no hidden costs. If a deal looks to good to be true, it probably is. My story: I looked and looked on the Internet for the best deal on a Canon Rebel XT, and found their web site. Wen I saw the $649.00 for a black-body XT with the standard Canon lens, I took the bait and ordered it online. I also ordered their "great" deal, a 512 MB high speed memory card (the We Double It to (1GIG) Free, for $149.99. I would have had to pay $40.00 for S&H, which was not to bad considering that "I still got a great deal, right? The total would had been $838.99!!! Well, the next day I got a message from them, for me to call so they could verify my order. That's when someone there told me that this camera did not come with a battery, and that I needed to purchase either a 2-hour or a 4-hour battery. Since the 2-hour battery would cost $159.00, I asked him to add that to my order. he was ready to hang-up, but I stopped him as asked him: "Would you tell me how much the total will be?" He said, "It will be $1,112.00." I almost hit the roof when he told me how much it would cost, and told him that my numbers didn't match his numbers. I was looking at the printout of the transaction I had done online, and the total there was $838.99. So adding $159.00 to $838.00 could not be $1,112.99!!!! I asked him, "how did you come up to that figure?" His answer was: "That's the correct number...Listen to me...my numbers are correct, yours are not...the company will send you a $75.00 cash refund, so if you take the $75.oo out of $1,112.99, then it will be cheaper than what I have told you." I immediately told him twice to cancel the order. I was pretty mad by then, and so was he. He said, "I will charge you for a restocking fee, too." And I responded, "no you won't. I am calling my credit card company right now, and you won't get a penny." I contacted the credit card company, and they took notes of the conversation I had with the fellow who was trying to rip me off, and the company's name. I also filed a complaint with the BBB of NY where I gave then all the details, including the following: 1. When you look at the web page where the camera is shown, you won't see anywhere any notice on a reduction of price by the cash refund from Canon, and nothing on the Internet transaction printout. 2. You won't find anywhere a description of "what is inside the box." Here is where you have to be careful, because they can say that the camera does not come with a battery nor charger, or whatever they feel like saying to make money from you. I will buy the camera in a few days, but will order it from Amazon, or B&H, Abe's of Maine, Adorama, or any reputable store. For the time being I will keep my eyes open on what the company above does with my credit card number. That worries me a little, so I will be in touch with my credit card company. If i have any problems, i will write a letter to the NY Attorney General. However, I am sure that other Federal Agencies would be interested on this company. I clearly felt that I was being ripped off. ihcfan 12-11-2005, 01:48 PM I saw this post, and specifically registered in order to post this, which is a replication of a Better Business Bureau complaint I filed. I also filed one with the FTC. I experienced an identical scheme at GeniusCameras.com. COMPANY OR ORGANIZATION INFORMATION: BestPriceCameras.com Not published on website Brooklyn, NY UNITED STATES, 11223 (800)281-1823 COMPLAINT INFORMATION: Date Received:12/11/2005 5:21:32 PM Primary Complaint Classification: Selling Practices Secondary Complaint Classification: Selling Practices Complaint: Company advertises cameras for far less than typical retail. When buying a camera (in my case Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT) company asks you to confirm order by phone. Once on phone, company explains camera body contains nothing (no battery, no manuals, no software), and is a reduced version of the product (plastic lens mount versus what Canon's site explains about same camera body). Company then attempts to extort customers by selling 'upgrades' that essentially get them to an approximatly retail price. No descriptions are given of the product that allow the consumer to understand that they are actually purchasing a non-standard or modified product. Company will happily cancel order if person doesn't wish to pay for 'upgrade' to useful product. Was told that 'metal lens mount' which is standard for Digital Rebel XT was an extra $80.00. When I indicated that I didn't need a battery (I suspected I'd be asked if I wanted to 'buy' one) was questioned about whether I wanted a 'working camera'. Agent (David) was happy to cancel my order after I was unwilling to upgrade to even the 'basic' camera body. This company is using a bait-and-switch tactic by being deceptive in both its on-line descriptions and happy to remove orders of customers that actually try to buy only what is advertised on the website. Desired Settlement: Other (Requires Explaination) Settlement Explanation: I would like to have the Canon Digital EOS Rebel XT body at their advertised price of $499.00 + $20.00 shipping via UPS ground. However, this is more to warn other consumers who may be attracted by the low price, only to discover that the company is intentionally decieving them. I suspect (though this is purely speculation) that had I not 'canceled' my order, there would have been some 'inventory problem' that would have prohibited shipment of the order until much later. I too was drawn by the great price, but was later called to add the battery and more. The scenario below was the nightmare that ensued last night. I have sent a fax to Clark Howard about it, and will sent reports to the FTC and BBB. This is my Christmas mission. Any other ideas of how we can put these guys out of business?? Beware!! When you call their bluff, they get really mad. Dear BEST SCAM CAMERAS! I am hereby canceling order #1016506 due to misrepresentation of the product on your web site and lying by your RUDE salesmen. Last night, I was lied to and hung up on FIVE times by William, Mike, Gary, Bruce, and Scott when I began questioning them on the type of battery that came with the camera and why I needed to buy another for an additional $79. I was told three different battery numbers by salesmen, and one told me no battery came with it. These men became more and more irritated by my specific questions. I became very upset and was crying. Scott continued to harass me by telling me I had to repeat the order number 8x before he would do anything. In addition, I was harassed and called a "red neck" by Scott as I finally tried to cancel the order. I was put off, demeaned, and argued with again and again about why I wanted to cancel the order. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was either put on hold forever and then hung up on or told to call back and hung up on again. I was on the phone with the above mean people for TWO HOURS last night! FYI...I have disputed the charge with my credit card, canceled the card, and will of course refuse shipment should you be so belligerent as to try to ship it anyway. In addition, I received a phone call last night after Scott harassed and hung up on me. The number I was called from was 718-627-6066. When I answered, several men were yelling "red neck" and laughing in the background. I know the number is for Infinity camera- which is the same owner as Best Price Cameras. This is beyond belief!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BTW..The word is out on your guys and I will join the forces to help it along concerning your rip off and rude company. The BBB, FTC, and internet are all wonderful tools. Clark Howard and others are on my list of to do's. If you want to read about yourselves check out this site http://forums.photographyreview.com/showthread.php?t=10918 Merry Christmas, casapapa 12-18-2005, 01:33 PM BestPriceCameras, Infinity Cameras and J&K Camera, all of Brooklyn NY, appear to be interconnected. In my opinion, they are not to be trusted. My experience reminds me of classic bait and switch. I ordered a Canon EOS Rebel XT with lens from BestPriceCameras. Several days later, I received a telephone call that my caller ID showed as J&K Camera with a Brooklyn telephone number. The caller identified himself with the same name that I had received on an e-mail from BestPriceCameras. The caller tried to sell me several hundred dollars worth of unwanted batteries and accessories. I told him I just wanted what I had agreed to purchase and refused to purchase any additional accessories. The caller said he was going to cancel the order. I told him I did not want him to cancel the order and that I wanted the camera and lens that I had ordered. The caller became rude. When I told him that I would file a complaint with the New York Attorney General's Office for bait and switch advertising, he informed me that it would cost me $200, suggesting that he was quite familiar with complaints about bait and switch advertising. I do not trust these people and would not do business with them. melbelle80 12-22-2005, 07:54 AM Has anyone bought anything from http://www.bestpricecameras.com? Are they bait and switch company? Thanks. BUYER'S BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!PLEASE DON'T ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY!I am trying to post as many bad reviews on them as I can and file complaints with the BBB of NY, where this company is based. More many more reviews, just go to www.resellerratings.com. This company is operating under 2-3 different names, I know this because I ordered the same camera from both bestpricecameras.com and infinityphoto.com thinking they were different companies and never received either camera. Although now I am a bit nervous because both companies have my credit card number! They advertise super low prices, which are appealing, but you will never pay that price. When you call they are VERY rude in trying to sell you accessories that they claim you NEED, although when I ordered by Canon 20D, I knew that if it was a factory fresh box as they claim, it would come with a charger, battery and pc cord. They told me it didn't come with any of these, so they open the boxes and take out the accessories and then make you pay outrageous prices for them. And..if you don't want to, like I said, they will tell you your order is backordered for 4-6 weeks and then you will never receive it. I am doing everything I can to get them out of business, and I encourage you to as well! Just read all the reviews and you will get even more mad that they continue to scam innocent people!! SnapJag 01-10-2006, 02:40 PM    I DID buy from InfinitiPhoto.com. I mistakenly bought the wrong camera and I called to get the right one, D70s. They obliged and I thought, great, this will be good. Then they offered a whole bunch of extras that just seemed fishy, but I thought how far can someone go to fool someone. Boy, was I wrong, they can go a long, long way. I looked up on the internet for all the prices of things I added to the kit and WOW did it not add up. It's disgusting how deep people will go into the hole to scam people. I started feeling bad about the whole deal. I called to cancel my order, they said, it's too late, we just shipped it. I said, I don't want it. What do I have to do to get it back to you and get a refund. I also don't want to have to pay shipping/handling and a restocking fee. They said. "Don't open the package." Accept the package, call and get an RMA, you'll have to pay shipping, but restocking will be canceled. I felt relieved. Wrong, again. I got the package and did exactly what they said to do. I called for an RMA and all h**l broke loose. I was told so many scammy stuff and I' ve been hung up on every time I call. Now I know why it it didn't feel quite right, too many hangups and quirky things said and done. I went and bought my D70s from PictureLine, Inc. in SLC Utah. Great company. They are at my "front door" and I can see and talk to them with a relationship about photography. Stay away from these companies that are of the same families. If it seems shady, it probably is. Some may claim to have a good experience and don't doubt that it works. But when the deal may not be going down their "street", then watch out, they'll barrell you over. oldcam 01-21-2006, 04:40 AM This website is gathering information on which groups of dealers are commonly owned and who the owners are. They keep adding more to their site: www.sheddingsomelight.com. After my cousin got swindled by one dealer, I sent this site a little piece of info they were lacking. If other victims can supply information, and spread the site around, everybody can learn from it. Mykel 01-24-2006, 08:55 PM   Oh! Cripes! I wish I had seen this forum three days ago when I made a $1600.00 purchase from these arses. They have been giving me the run around from the get go. High pressure sale and all to eager to deal and add encentives to keep the full purchase price rising. It says on their customer service page that they do not charge the credit card till they are ready to ship the Item. Well thats a lie. They also said that they have no way of sending me a transcript of all that was agreed upon in the transaction. (that system is broken I was told) Gawd I feel like ... Crap after reading all these reviews. I couldn't find anything negative when I searched before I made the order.Does anyone know what recourse I can take. I'm three days into the sale and it has not been shipped but I have been charged? Thanks, Fear & Loathing in Port Orchard. Mykel bloessberg 02-07-2006, 05:21 AM Same problem as regarding this reseller. I have been buying online for many years, and have never run across a vender so deceptive. I was also told that a battery was not included in the "factory box". However, I checked with a local retailer and they showed me the list of included accessories - a battery is listed! When I called the BestPriceCameras salesman back, he still insisted a battery did not come with the camera. I cancelled the order. Suggesting extra accessories, i.e. battery, memory, bag, extended warranties, etc. is fair and expected, but low-balling a price and then trying to sell back accessories that are included in the box is highly unethical, and may constitute mail fraud. BUYER BE AWARE! firstcamera 02-07-2006, 09:10 AM I almost bought from this company and am glad I did not. I submitted my order on Monday and received an email that I was to call Chris to confirm my order. I replied to the email and left messages asking why I had to confirm my order. Finally on Friday I connected with Chris only to be told my order had not shipped because he was waiting to hear from me. When I asked why he had not replied to my email or messages he refused to answer and immediately started asking me what battery I wanted with my camera. I told him I did not want any accessories, I only wanted what came with the camera. He became very rude and said he would ship the camera and I would have it in 2 to 3 weeks. I asked if that 2 to 3 weeks started from the day I submitted the order and he said 'no from the day I ship it'. I told him that was unacceptable since he had already had my order for 5 days and I expected it sooner. He finally told me that he was cancelling my order and he hung up. These people are totally unprofessional and not to be trusted. Spend a little extra and order from somone else. drew2143 02-09-2006, 07:16 PM Don't buy from bestpricecameras.com I had exactly the same problems as melbell80 did when i ordered my 20d. The salesman was very pushy and they didn't send me what i wanted. They tried to tell me that the 20d did not normally come with a battery/charger, and that you had to order one seperately. They're definately running some sort of scam and need to be shutdown. hyprhiker 05-09-2006, 06:10 PM I need help and I need it rather quickly. I made the same mistakes as everyone else and bought a camera from Best Price Cameras believing I bought a 20D Canon and two Canon lenses. I asked the salesman specifically and he told me the lenses were Canon autofocus. Wrong. Sigmas. At least I recieved mine. Here is the dilema...I have a tracking number to send it back. Those of you who sent it back, did you get a refund on your card and did they charge you the hidden restock fee? Please let me know, I have just a few days to send it back. I am trying to decide if I should keep it and learn or send it back and risk fighting to get $1900 back. Thanks. cyberlord 05-10-2006, 04:45 AM Hyprhiker I replied to your other post. If you used a real CC then U should have no problem getting your money back if you talk to your CC company. Also report to BBB. Tim fgrasty 06-01-2006, 04:16 PM I received an incomplete order from bestpricecameras.com and have tried to resolve the matter w/ customer svc. for 2wks. They advised me to call the sales rep that I placed my order with. I have left him 5 voice mails and 3 emails w/o any return response. Absolutely the worst customer service dept. I have ever seen. kiwiguo 06-05-2006, 11:06 PM Similar experience. I am one of the sad individuals dumped in the Minolta / Sony transfer, and saw a 70-200 SSM Minolta lens needed for my business. After confirming availability the hard sell process started (p.s I am calling international). Two days later with all my credit card details in their pockets then "found" they were out of stock and promptly hang up on my follow up calls ... twice.:mad2: nevernefertiti 07-05-2006, 08:08 AM I bought a camera from Best Price before. I don't have a horror story though. They also sent me the email asking me to call them and I thought that was suspicious. I was already suspicious because of the amazing price, but thought that I would give it a try. Ha. When the guy asked me which battery I wanted I told him that it came with a battery and he said that it didn't and I told him that in that case I would like to cancel my order. He was nice enough about it. He just asked if I was sure and then said that nothing would be charged on my credit card. Of course I watched my credit card like a hawk afterward. Ha. Christina AZphoto 07-05-2006, 11:01 AM I bought a Nikon D200 from them. Shipping, camera, etc were fine. However, I assumed that the camera included batteries and charger. By the time I purchased these (I should have just canceled the order), the camera was considerably more expensive than other on-line dealers. Afterwards, I visited several sites. All included batteries and charger and all were less expensive. LaramieEd 07-05-2006, 11:28 AM Hi, I too am in the process of trying to avoid getting scammed by them regarding a Canon EF 24-105 lens. Same M.O. as others: Great price advertised on line, place the order (note: no sales receipt with a listed shipping price or shipping date); then the e-mail request to contact them. Sent a return e-mail asking them to just send the lens. E-mail replies from the company are nonexistent, other than an automated "due to the high volume, your e-mail cannot be replied to at this time." Finally phoned the company and they added on an exorbitant processing fee, shipping fee, and a hard sell for an extended warranty (even though the lens comes with a 1 year warranty). Should have said no thanks, but didn't since the price was still comparable to other vendors, though I asked for a shipping confirmation. Never received it. Finally received the lens after purchasing it from another company. Refused the package weeks ago. Still haven't received a refund. The customer service rep was extremely rude and hostile. Should have read these reviews first. On my credit card statement the company was not listed as BestPriceCameras but as INF/MRAC/JF. nevernefertiti 07-05-2006, 06:38 PM Maybe you can dispute it with the credit card company? I think that is what I read a lot of people have done with them and Royal Camera. I bought my camera from www.newegg.com after cancelling the order with Best Price. They were great. No hassles. And decent prices. And I didn't have to pay extra to get the manual and battery! Haha. I am of the mind that maybe Royal Camera and Best Price are owned by the same people. Or at least people who know each other. They're so similar. Christina sapori 07-09-2006, 11:37 AM I have been freshly scammed by bestpricecameras.com I feel like kicking myself that I should have seen these posting before making the purchase. My father who lived in another country is a camera enthusiast. He found this cheap but looked awesome deal from bestpricecamera.com -- Canon EOS 30D with 18-55mm lens and 13 accessories for around $1200. So he told me to buy it for him. I normally don't buy online from noname website, but as I assume my dad knows about camera much more than I did and probably he did a research a lot on this website before asking me to buy it for him, I did the purchase. A day later, I got an email from bestpricecameras salesman named "Ted" to call him back regarding the order. I called him back and the swindle began. He told me the package didn't come with charger or battery and this camera do need special battery and charger. As a good daughter who wants to buy a camera for her dad as a present since she's just graduated from college and will make money for the first time, I said sure put them in. Also "Ted" told me that since the camera was expensive, I should also get 1-year warranty from canon. The whole thing came to $2000. As a person who has never had problem with online purchase and has never been conned before, I didn't think much. Yesterday, I got the camera. And all hell broke loose. First of all, the invoice had the charge lumped in one big item "Deluxe Package Deal", without explanation on how much the extra accessories cost. I immediately felt uneasy. As I fumbled through the UPS box with the kidney bean foams, I unearthed the open box of Canon EOS 30D camera. I immediately knew I was conned -- the camera package should have been untouched and unopened. The special charger and battery are just standard Canon ones. I later found out that the charger and battery should come standard with the camera. So I likely paid this ass**** $500 or so extra on something I should have gotten standard from Canon. I, then, called "Ted" as I still saved his email with phone number and extension. "Ted" who was previously friendly when I purchased camera from him, started yelling at me that I have to call customer service on Monday and he could not talk to me unless I want to make another purchase. Also he said he wouldn't know about my order or record. He then accused me of trying to make a profit from accessories when I started asking him to give me a breakdown of the cost of battery, charger and the warranty. I told him I wanted to return the charger and accessories and wanted to keep only the camera. He told me I couldn't do that, I had to return the whole package and they would charge me 10% restocking fee + handling fee (and probably the fee of training all these swindlers to get the most out of all innocent and naive souls). Then he started screaming at me and called me crazy lady when I told him I would dispute restocking fee and this scam. Apparently "Ted" was somewhere in Brooklyn and not in that scammed "office" of his because I started hearing street noise and his friends closed by started asking him what was wrong. He then talked to his friends that I was crazy, stupid and what an ass I was... etc. At this point, I was so mad and told him what a scum you guys are and hang up. I immediately searched Google and found all these complained postings. Lo and behold, I'm another victim. I searched Better Business Bureau of New York and found 237 complaints on bestpricecameras.com in the last 12 months. I searched more on google and found that in Brooklyn there are tons of scammed camera stores which operate online camera and electronics operation. Someone went on to take pictures of these scammed storefront addresses. The address that bestpricecameras.com have "1938 McDonald Ave, Brooklyn, NY" was actually a rundown, shaggy store that looks like you might be murdered or raped if you set foot in there. And no one in right mind would ever buy from a horrible looking store like that had they not operated under "bestpricecameras.com", an online name which sounds quite ligit. I'm so mad, pissed and want to kick and scream after seeing the picture of their store address. Also there are tons of people posting on different photography websites about scams from bestpricecameras.com. What I don't understand is that, how can attorney general of NY and best business bureau still let them operate the online website after so many complaints. I saw teh complaints orginated since 2004 and amazed that these ass**** still continue to trive and doing business and profit handsomely for yet another $2000 from me!! Is there something we can do to get rid of them? Anybody knows the mafia in Brooklyn??? Does anybody successfully get someof their money back after returning the purchased item to bestpricecameras.com. I'm debating whether I should keep the camera and learn my lesson or attempt to return it to get some money back. My concern is that this crook will take my returned camera and pretend to have never received it. Or might come up with a scammed way to put exorbitant charges, so I won't get much money back. Does the camera work for the people who decide to keep it? I can't test the camera yet because if I open the battery package, I can never return it again to this scammed artist. Please help answering if anybody have experience returning camera to bestpricecameras.com I have already cancelled my credit card info that I used to buy this camera, who knows what other schemes they might concoct with our credit card info. sapori 07-11-2006, 10:01 AM Update: I'm trying to return the $2000 claimed to be "Deluxe Package" of Canon EOS 30D with accessories that should have come with the original Canon camera package. Antonio Cruz, the manager of customer service at BestPriceCameras.com, told me I have to pay 20% restocking fee and 7% shipping and handling -- which in total will cost me $500. I told him that in your invoice and your website, stating 10% restocking fee. He told me that "read the fine print... it said 10% minimum restocking fee, so we can charge you higher depend on the item." Basically they can charge me 50% restocking fee if they feel like. But I guess, it was Tuesday and they feel like charging 20%. I asked him for the document that stated that professional camera has 20% restocking fee. Antonio told me there was no such document, the invoice said so that there was minimum 10% restocking fee, so they could charge whatever they want for restocking fee depend on the item. Ahhh!!!!! Also that 7% shipping handling fee is outrageous. Please stay away from bestpricecameras.com; otherwise, you will get screwed just like I did. Can't someone shut them down? I'm filing complaint with BBB. escu 07-11-2006, 01:08 PM You should be able to dispute the fraudulent charges with your credit card company... I would keep the camera and have your credit card company reverse the transaction - in order to win here, you would have to play their game. There is plenty of documentation that proves bestpricecameras.com is run by crooks and they should be hold responsible for their deceiving actions. Another thing you could do, you could open a police report in your home-town - the credit card company may like that also. Anyway, just spend a few minutes, call the authorities (including the CC company) and let's do something about these miserable charlatans. William Drake 07-19-2006, 07:53 PM Do not deal with this company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I put an order in last week for a JVC GZ-MG77 Camcorder. I got an email asking me to call them. I did, they verified my shipping address and then tried to sell me a battery. I asked why if there was a battery in the package. "This is an OEM camera", I was told. I stated that the camera was not identified as a OEM and then the customer service rep. got snoty and stated that he was looking at his web site and it stated that it was indeed an OEM product. I told him I wasn't going to play his game and councled the order. I then looked up the web site again and saw nothing that would lead me to believe it was anything but a boxed camcorder from JVC. I tried three times to talk to someone in the customer service center to tell them that their ad is misleading and boardering on false advertizment and all three times I ended up talking to unfreindly people. They said there is a clause in there policy that identifies their camcorders as OEM. I still can't find that clause. This is NOT A CUSTOMER FRIENDLY company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look it up for yourself, go to the site www.bestpricecameras.com and look up the JVC GZ-MG77 and let me know if you can find anywhere in the description that it is a OEM product. William Drake Bob Cervelli 07-21-2006, 08:15 AM DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE IDIOTS! Yesterday I ordered a Canon 20D package from them. I went through the check-out process and the package with shipping was around $1279.00 Today I received a call from their "verification department" and found out the camera did not come with batteries and the total price jumped up to almost $ 1600.00 ! Then the guy started arguing with me saying that there "is no way you can get this camera package for this price", then proceeded to hang up on me. Little do they know that my brother-in-law is an Asst. Attorney General in their state and I am reporting them to his office. Companies like this should be nailed down to the ground, once and for all. Bob jjbouvier 08-01-2006, 02:19 PM Obnoxious salesman; started to sell items he did not give me a chance to request; overall the worst experience I've had in ordering anything. Surprisingly, the order arrived in less than 24 hours. sharlet 08-03-2006, 12:56 PM I believe these are the same people and scam as "Royal Camera". Beware. yow6246 08-05-2006, 02:43 PM Has anyone bought anything from http://www.bestpricecameras.com? Are they bait and switch company? Thanks. I had the misfortune to be a customer of this fraudulent outfit. I got the usual treatment - batteries and charger not included, partial delivery but charges the full amount - but I am not taking this lying down. I filed a complaint with my credit card company to withold payment. I also filed a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center which defines internet crime as "... any illegal activity involving one or more components of the Internet, such as websites, chat rooms, and/or email. Internet crime involves the use of the Internet to communicate false or fraudulent representations to consumers. These crimes may include, but are not limited to, advance-fee schemes, non-delivery of goods or services, computer hacking, or employment/business opportunity schemes." I urge all who have had transactions with BestPriceCameras to file their complaints with ICCC. It is very simple - all you have to do is fill in a web form at http://www.ic3.gov/ . If the ICCC gets a flood of complaints for this operator I am sure that some action will be taken. So, spread the word and let's close down this bunch of scam artists. In the meanwhile I am exploring starting a class action law-suit to recover liquidated and punitive damages. Anyone interested in joining? yow6246 08-07-2006, 10:10 AM I have the misfortune of dealing with these cretins. When I started to complain to their manager about the shabby treatment, I was called a yahoo and he actually threatened to publish my account on the internet. I had to resort to getting American Express to withhold payment. I have also filed a complaint with the Internet Crime Compliant Centere which define internet crimes as "...any illegal activity involving one or more components of the Internet, such as websites, chat rooms, and/or email. Internet crime involves the use of the Internet to communicate false or fraudulent representations to consumers. These crimes may include, but are not limited to, advance-fee schemes, non-delivery of goods or services, computer hacking, or employment/business opportunity schemes.". If we all file complaints with the ICCC the sheer volume should prompt some action. For those of us who have suffered losses, perhaps a class action suit to recover liquidated and punitive damages will put the final nail in the coffin. I noticed that a "whois" query only returns a POBox in Vancouver WA. This should be a red flag to anyone thinking of buying from these crooks. mikee 08-15-2006, 11:21 AM Aaaaarrrgghhhh!!!! I'm so stupid. I ordered one of their packages off the web. I called to confirm, as requested. The cost shot up $600 over the initial quote. I called canon and they told me the battery and charger were standard equipment and that canon's warranty was all that I needed. I called bestprice back within an hour and started screaming before they could utter a word. The order was cancelled. Major problem! I used my mastercard debit on the initial order. The next day fraudulent charges started showing up on my account. Although I can't prove it, I'm quite sure the foreign charges originated from the cancelled transaction. What a mess! hiram 08-24-2006, 08:15 PM Stay Away they are Crooks. Best Price Cameras is a fraudulent (not real store) company. They mistreat, lie and try to rob their costumers. I placed an order online since they have one of the best prices of the digital camera I was buying. Two days after the order, I got an email to call them to “confirm the order”. I called them just to have a guy (Steve) tell me that the camera did not come to battery that I had to buy one separate. When I told him that I knew they come with battery, since I had researched before buying it, he said in a very aggressive and insulting tone that they did not. I then asked him to please cancel my order and he said “OK” and rudely hanged up. smark2 08-28-2006, 09:00 AM DO NOT BUY FROM THESE SCAMMERS! They offer a low price on a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT and then make you call up to confirm and try to get you to buy battery and charger and more at prices even higher than their online price. The rude salesguy actually told me if I bought a Lithium Ion battery or used an existing one I owned that I would have to send it in to have them program the camera! By the time they got done it would have cost much more than many other stores I reviewed. The sales guy was pushy, rude and abnoxious and hung up on me when I cancelled the order. THESE GUYS SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN! tmart10 09-03-2006, 04:50 PM Yikes another another victum! I can only reiterate all the above horror stories that have been written to date. I can add nothing new but it sure feels good being able to bad mouth these people of less than reputable reputation. I urge all of those of us that have been ripped off by these people that you submit complaints to the New York BBB, NewYork Attorney General, plus any forum like this one. I picked up the link to Best Price Cameras from e-Bay and intend to let them know my feelings also. I don't know if we can clean them out because they just change the domain name and start all over again. We can warn all others though. tmart10 Stung jewel2004 09-21-2006, 02:27 PM Stay Away from Best Price Cameras!!!: Watch out bestpricecameras.com!!! Best Price Cameras is also infinitiphoto.com and jandkcameras.com.I ordered a Panasonic PV GS500 camcorder kit and some accessories recent online at bestpricecameras.com for my coming vacation. They over charged me more $311, they put things that I didn’t order in the package, the box of the camcorder was opened before while they claimed that their products are new, and some products supposed to be included are missed in the package. Moreover, they do not have a return address on the package!! I placed an order online and submitted my credit card info and address on bestpricecameras.com. Next day, a sales person, who told me that his name is Charles, contacted me to confirm my order. Charles said that I had to order a battery charger. I asked why the charger was not included, and it should be in the whole package. Charles said that the battery charger was not included, it’s a fast charger, and it’s an AC adapter can be used oversea. I repeated many times in the phone about the total price we agreed is $918.98. I got an email that informed me that they shipped out a package to me. A few days later, I found out that my credit card was charged at $1229.99, which is over charged $311.01!! I have not received the package yet at that time. I called bestpricecameras.com. I called the sales department and customer many times to request the refund the amount they over charged. Charles said things differently each time in phone, and he denied the price we agreed before. He said that he is the highest supervisor at sales department. I received the package later, and they have no return address on it! I opened the package and found out that the box of the camcorder was opened before, they put in a warranty that I didn’t order, and some products supposed to be included are missed in the package. I did more search about them and the PV GS500 camcorder. The battery charger should be included in the PV GS500 camcorder per the manufacture. I asked sales person in BestBuy store, and they told me that a new PV GS500 camcorder includes a battery charger, which is an AC adaptor. I found out a lot of horrible experiences with bestpricecameras.com posted by other customers online. I wrote a letter to bestpricecameras.com customer services and requested a return number and address. I also called them many times to request the return address. It has been 5 days now and I still haven’t got the return number and address. Today, I found out that my credit card number was stolen / plagiarized, and it was used unauthorized outside of United States. This is the first time that my credit card number is plagiarized. I had to close this credit card account. I have to file a complaint to BBB at www.bbb.org now. It’s terrible experience with bestpricecameras.com. Stay away from bestpricecameras.com, infinitiphoto.com and jandkcameras.com! realfstkid 10-09-2006, 09:52 PM I am looking into buying an EOS 30D and I was taking a glance at the low advertised prices of this site as well. I luckily did some research and dodged the bullet. Something to add to this thread though, check out this consumer review website, which is obviously a scam as well. Bestpricecameras.com has this site listed as their proof of good reviews. Its obviously made up, just another thing to beware of. http://www.ratingsplanet.com/merchant_rating.asp?merch_id=1948279258 Things like this really make me mad, when people go this low. It's a good thing we have sites like these to avoid such inconveniences. Thanks guys, C catnmat 10-10-2006, 06:55 AM I experienced all the same stuff:mad2: I am trying to figure out what to do. Haven't opened yet, but isn't the right lens and all the battery stuff. But here is the real kicker. The cc I used to purchase this product is now being used fraudulently. I don't use this card for hardly anything, and am 99% sure the compromise came out of Bestpricecameras. Has anyone else experienced fraudulent use of the card they provided to these scums? Anyone have a solution? Also I didn't google them before, which was obviously a huge mistake, but I thought I was viewing a litgit ranking site Ratings Planet which had almost all positive ratings. Does anyone know anything about them? tma 10-10-2006, 08:48 PM Yet another warning... I too, made the mistake of ordering a camera from this outfit, via telephone in July '06. Same story here....delays, then abusive, THEY cancelled my order when I had questions, etc. Then....less than24 hours after the abusive conversation, cancellation and hangup, my credit card was being used fraudulently. Fortunately, my cc company was on top of things and stopped the card on the fourth charge. While I can't prove it, I know deep down that it's this company or an employee behind this. Check out ripoffreport.com and/or badbusinessbureau.com and do a search on Best Price Cameras. I'm not the only one to suddenly have fraudulent cc use immediately after dealing with them....so keep tabs on your cc!!!! Tahnee 10-19-2006, 09:41 AM :mad2:       HOOK AND EYE COMPANY..................I to had the same problem and cancelled my order. Thanks to your information I also cancelled my CC the same day. Thanks JAH 10-23-2006, 05:56 AM Hi, My story is similar to the other postings, except my card # was stolen. I placed an order through BestPriceCameras and received an email that said I must call to confirm my order. When I called I was pressured to buy a battery and a bunch of other 'extras' that I thought were included. I immediately cancelled the order. The next day I had 5 charges to office max on my credit card for a total of $2,000. Luckily my credit card company and office max thought this was suspicious and contacted me. The orders were not fulfilled and I felt lucky. This is obviously a front company. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES DO BUSINESS WITH THEM OR GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION!!!!!!!!!! psulliva 10-23-2006, 03:59 PM I just tried to buy a FujiFilm S6000 form Bestpricecameras. It is the worst online purchase experience I have ever had. I tried to confirm my order via email and received no response. I tried to confirm by leaving messages. That produced no results. I finally went through the pain of waiting 30 minutes on hold while they "researched my order" Then I was asked if I wanted to order batteries. I told him no they are just AA batteries. He rushed to tell me that my order would ship in 3 to 6 WEEKS!!! I caught him in time, I hope, to cancel the order. I would not use Bestpricecameras if the products were free. uneekone 10-25-2006, 07:24 PM Oct. 5 I attempted to purchase a Nikon D80 from Best Price Cameras. They became rude and insulting when I would not purchase their high prices accessories. I immediately cancelled my order requesting they destroy my credit card information. Today when I tried to use my credit card, the bank had put a hold on it due to some suspicious charges. There were numerous charges on my card within the last week that appear to be online software charges and a few from something called rediff.com limited. None of which were mine. The fraud department of my card company has been given all information pertaining to this company. After dealing with my card I began looking at online complaints for this company. This reinforces my belief that this company is stealing credit card information. I will definitely be pushing my card company to investigate Best Price Camera along with the other 9 or so companies listed on the New York Better Business Bureaus website as additional business names. trevorns 10-26-2006, 12:09 PM Don't buy from bestpricecameras.com. Many of the bad camera stores feature the "RatingsPlanet Trusted Seller" bogus logo. I tried to post a negative review of BestPriceCameras at RatingsPlanet and the review was never posted. There is no info at RatingsPlanet about who owns it. If you want real reviews from real customers, always check ResellerRatings.com. Their web looks like BPC.com and they have the same packages. hankpb 11-12-2006, 09:44 PM Don't buy from them. CREDIT CARD INFO STOLEN I decided to give my credit card info and purchase online a Panasonic AG-DX100B Camcorder from bestpricecameras.com with a card I have not used for 6 months! I got the e-mail confirmation without the purchase price so I was hunkering-down for the upcoming up sell phone call. Sure enough, I received a call from (718)-306-1554 the next morning. I declined all the accessories but with "so-called handling and insurance" my price went from $2400 to $3300! I emphatically declined the transaction. The seller had no problems cancelling the transaction and a had NO problem keeping my credit card info. As I mentioned earlier, I STILL haven't used this credit card for 6 months. Sure enough, within two weeks, more than one thousand dollars of Western Union cash transfer services were charged on my credit card! If this isn't evidence of their involvement with stolen credit card info, I don't know what is! My bank's credit card investigation group are on them now. It is comforting to see more testimonial evidence from this thread which I will share with them as well. Thanks, Hank jhandler 11-21-2006, 10:25 PM :cryin: Yes, Century 21 Electronics is part of the same operation. If you look on the Better Business Bureau site at http://www.bbbnewyork.org/reports/businessreports.aspx?id=12668, you will see that Best Price Cameras operates under many different names, including Century 21 Electronics, Best Stop Camera, Hello Camera, Infiniti Cameras, J&K Cameras (now called Enterprise Photo), Mr. Accessory, and Regency Camera. I have recently been victimized by these people as well. I can't go into all the details right now--it's too upsetting! I can just say "ditto" to what everyone else is saying. I am wondering what progress has been made toward getting these evil people out of business. If I can help in any way, let me know. Happy Thanksgiving!:smile5: Stefano 11-29-2006, 11:44 AM I thought I've seen it all, but when it came to bestpricecameras.com I was shocked. I placed an order for a Sony DCR-SR100 digital video camera on Sunday. The website stated the camera was in stock. On Wednesday I called the company and inquired on status. After being placed on hold for 15 minutes which costs me money as an international call since I'm calling from Germany (military member), I was told the camera is on backorder and I'll be notified when the camera was ready to be shipped. I then called again to inquire about what my cost would be because suddently the camera was advertised at $100 more. I was put on hold by four different respresentatives in 1/2 hour and then disconnected. All they did was to take my order number and never got back to me on my question. Then I called again and Jonathan answered and he put me on hold four different times without knowing my question. After 25 mintues I was connected to Tony and he told me the camera will no longer be delivered; it's not available. The order will be cancelled. Unbelievable!!! Remember, I had to pay for these phone calls and they couldn't tell me this the first time. There is definitely something wrong with this company. DON"T DEAL WITH THEM!!!:mad2: boost808 12-06-2006, 09:49 AM Hey guys, Unfortunately I also fell victim to this scam. I ordered at Canon Powershot SD800 from bestpricecameras.com on December 2nd, 2006 and on December 3rd, 2006, I received a phone call from Chris to confirm my order. I confirmed the order and he presented the question of what kind of battery I would like to purchase. In the past I have ordered many cameras and lenses from BH photo and I seriously don't know why I decided to go with bestpricecamera instead this time around but this really should have raised a red flag because EVERY single camera I've bought (I own 2 DSLR's, 1 manual SLR and the SD700 powershot camera) came with a battery. I asked him what happened to the battery that comes with the camera and he stated that it did come with a battery but it only lasts 15 minutes. Then I asked him why ANYONE would go through the trouble of designing, engineering, and then producing a battery that lasts only 15 minutes? He told me “You have to take that up with Canon”. I asked Chris if there were other batteries I could use because I didn’t think that the battery with the SD700 and the SD800 could be that different. He said that it was the newest battery produced and it is only compatible with the SD800. The price of the battery would boost my price up $100 over the $312 quoted on the website! I had felt I had already wasted enough time with these people because I had guests over and I told him to just sell me the battery. After I did some research, I found that the battery for the SD700 in fact, IS the same as the SD800 which only costs ~$50. I also called Canon and they stated that all Canon cameras should come with the battery. I then called bestpricecamera to cancel the order. I got a representative over the phone who was not Chris and I had specifically asked him if my order had shipped. He stated that it was going to ship later on that afternoon. Great! I told him to cancel the order. After arguing (calmly) with 15 minutes, he told me he was going to transfer me to Chris to get my order canceled. He proceeds to put me on hold for at least 10 minutes, maybe hoping that’d I’d just hang up or something, and finally Chris is back on the line. I have to explain the ENTIRE THING to Chris again and spending at least another 10 minutes explaining to him he tells me “the order has already shipped, enjoy” and hangs up on me! This is just not the way to do business. I also reported them to the BBB and the ICCC. Has anyone successfully resolved their issue with BPC through the BBB and the ICCC? These guys need to be stopped. arpipap 12-07-2006, 05:49 PM Hi guys I only wonder one thing. WHY DID THEY COME UP FIRST IN GOOGLE ENGINE SEARCH WHEN LOOKING ON CAMERAS???????? WHY ARE THIS PEOPLE STILL ONLINE AFTER ALMOST 2 YEARS SINCE THE FIRST POST HERE???!!!!!! I DIDN'T GET SCAMMED HERE BUT UNTIL JUSTICE IS MAID(wonder how long) ,YOU GUYS SHOULD MAKE REQUESTS TO GOOGLE AND OTHER BIG SEARCH ENGINES TO HAVE THEM REMOVED FROM THEIR LIST THIS IS REALLY CONCERNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lisette 12-11-2006, 09:27 PM It makes me sick to my stomach that these thugs come from New York City or USA. Thank god I saw this forum. I'm going to my banker tomorrow and getting the $2699 credited back. Our original order was $1499 and we got 'the call' on Sunday! (RED FLAG) I will also get a new ATM card tomorrow.I emailed those troglodytes: We'll be in NYC soon with a bunch of US Marines in hand. THANK YOU GUYS for your POSTS I did do a complaint with Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). You know if they ARE up for 2 years, probably the BIG WIGS in NYC are in KAHOOTS with THEM. I guess the mafia is STILL around. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~next morning~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Went to Bank of America and our banker called them directly and spoke with a lady in the cancellation dept. I was amazed that it went well. We got a UPS tracking number and she said to just not accept the package and they would refund the amount within 2 weeks. We shall see. Luckily, Bank of America will put the $2699 back into our account. The bank will get THEIR money from them via an investigation. We do have to fill out paperwork coming in the mail. jrivascamacho 12-19-2006, 11:03 AM I really Thank God I found this forum. Just yesterday I was asking a Californian friend that is a Fotogrpher about this site because of theri icredible prices. He told me that it sounded fishy, but I was almost decided to at least give them a call. but now reading you guys I think I will not waste any time. pra_kr34 12-26-2006, 11:56 PM Thankyou guys for your reviews for Bestpricecameras.com..I wanted to purchage Sony DCR-SR100 from this website. I checked about this web site on internet found all reviews about this scam website..I have just saved my money and time...thanks to all of you!!! butters 12-31-2006, 12:43 PM Okay Here I go. I did buy from these guys and was not as much of a horror story as everyone else. I did get the battery line and all that stuff others have mentioned, but I did get my camera in 3 days free shipped. I got the Nikon D200 and was brand new with the USA warranty. I called Nikon to make sure. When I did receive my camera it was missing alot of extra stuff I paid for so I called the company. I was on hold for a long time and was hung up on once, but this guy Dennis did help me out. I didn't start any argument and just wanted what I paid for. Two days later I did get the things I was missing. Some of the things I got were not Nikon brand, but that was never mentioned anyway. I think I spent alot of money, but when I did add it up I paid about the same amount I would have paid somewhere else. I would buy from someone else in the future because they do seem shady, but I dont feel like I got royally screwed. This camera was not sitting around a long time because it had the latest firmware on it and as I stated was brand new in a factory fresh box. I did cancel my credit card because of horror stories I heard online. This was a Christmas gift and it is in perfect working condition and all lenses I got were brand new. I would suggest people to buy from Amazon though. You get low prices and the companies selling the products through Amazon do not get your credit card number. I bought the Nikon SB800 flash through Amazon and the company selling it through them was Beach Cameras. They were a good company and I got the flash within 2 days. My suggestion for anyone buying from any company is to read what comes with the package. If you look at bestpricecameras they do not say anywhere in the description that a battery even comes with it. You need to read this and do not assume anything. I was sweating my purchase from day one, but was fortunate to get the camera and accessories. I WOULD NOT buy from them again, but I did get what I paid for even though it wasnt the lowest price around. Always go through a more reputable company even if it means paying a little more because you know you will have easy returns if needed and your personal information will be kept private. I try not to argue with any company because if you yell at some sales guy, and he is shady, your information will probably get out there. It's like never yelling at a cook in a resturant because your meal will probably be less than satisfactory if you know what I mean. Hope this helps! paperpaper 01-12-2007, 07:56 AM We should all write letters to our major news affiliates, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, and persuade them to do an investigative expose on bestpricecameras.com (they operate under multiple names) and other online crooks in such news-shows like 20/20 or Dateline. I've read the reviews about bestpricecameras.com from a number of public forums as well as the complaints filed to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) --- and all this would make such a compelling, informative, and cautionary TV-documentary about bestpricecameras.com in particular and the digital camera gray-market in general. I too share a similar experience with bestpricecameras.com. I made an online purchase for a Canon Rebel Xt for $449. I called to confirm my order and they said I would have to pay an additional $149 for batteries. I said that Canon should have already have a battery in the manufacture box, but they said that it doesn't. I said I needed more time to think about it and to cancel my order and the guy hung up. Feeling uneasy about the phone call, I googled "bestpricecameras.com" (which, I know, I should've done earlier) and found hundreds of stories about how people were receiving the wrong items, paying more than they agreed to pay, inferior parts, wrong warranties, opened boxes, unitemized invoices, extremely rude, offensive customer service, and, worst of all, unapproved credit card charges after they get your credit card information! Although I told them to cancel my order, I knew I couldn't trust them, and so after reading other people's accounts, I decided it would be best to cancel my credit card to avoid them from making unapproved transactions (one person said that his card was charged for a Barcelona plane ticket!). It's been such an inconvenience but I'm glad I was able to cancel in time before they made charges: 7 days without a card is better than months and months of headaches from dealing with these rude, unethical people. Such stories and complaints about bestpricecameras.com have been CONSISTENTLY posted online since 2005, with frequent reports to the Better Business Bureau and the NY General Attorney. I have no idea how they still continue to do business. To shed light on the dishonest scam practices of bestpricecameras.com WE SHOULD ALL WRITE TO OUR LOCAL AND NATIONAL NEWS syndicates to tell them about this store and their unethical selling practices. If the BBB and NYC aren't going to shut this place down, we can at least have reporters broadcast our frustrations and their illegal practices to a wider audience. I wait for the day I tune in for nightly news and see these people exposed for their criminal acts. paperpaper 01-12-2007, 12:33 PM Someone took a picture of the ACTUAL location of the address listed on bestpricecameras.com's website (see link below). Bestpricecameras.com say that they are located in: 1938 McDonald Ave Brooklyn, NY 11223 See picture: http://donwiss.com/pictures/BrooklynStores/h0218.htm If this won't make you stop from buying from Bestpricecameras.com, I don't what will. John_in_NC 01-30-2007, 02:51 AM Ordered a camcorder, called to confirm. Told me that it doesn't include lens. They doubled the price to get it complete. Of course I cancelled. I also cancelled my cc number with the bank as a ping revealed their IP and www.arin.net revealed their website in Amsterdam. very unusual. Also found this: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Best_Price_Cameras_6 Okay so their business practices are unethical to say the least, So why does the FTC not shut them down? Isn't that their job, to protect us? ivonneak 01-31-2007, 01:41 PM was looking to buy a canon g7, did a google search and this company's website came up. I called their 1800 number wanting verification on the camera's price (359.00 for a G7, right!) I spoke with some rude guy in product information who didn't identify himself , he said the price was right but his tone made me think twice. I asked about a return policy, he said it was five days, I asked about a warranty he said it had to be purchased from them. I asked that if the camera were to break within two weeks of getting it was there a replacement policy, he said "if it breaks it breaks, what can you do about it, that;s why we sell the warranty" . On my end I was shocked that these people tried to do business talking to potential customers this way. I did comment to this individual how rude he was and he said he didn't say anything rude and followed that with some expletives. Nice way of doing business bestpricecameras.com, needless they didn't get my money, I will gladly pay 500 bucks for this camera from sam's club or any other reputable seller .ivonne shishirdahal 02-12-2007, 08:19 AM I purchased a camera from them. They quoted $245 for Elura 100 but when I called them by phone, they said that it is only for camera(battery,AV cable, etc are not included). What will somebody do with a camera withour anything else? They charged me $350 for package and that included battery, cables etc. After I knew that it doesn't include FireWIre cable, I paid $30 for the cable separately. When I got my package, I found that my firewire cable is missing. I called them and they said that I didn't order that cable and the $30 that I paid extra was for battery and the charger. The person who was talking in phone was a rude one. I bought another firewire cable from market which is cheaper than them. Final words: Dont buy anythig from them, if you can stay away. CitizenM 02-28-2007, 08:47 PM *bestpricecameras Is enterprisephoto * I am trying to buy my first digital camera, tg I am checking reviews and such. I've had a horrible day sorting thru all these blood sucking scavengers. Notice that these camera websites are pricing what comes in Nikon D40 box seperately. I even called the customer assistance number posted on their website; I was on hold for about 40 minutes before I got the rudest customer service rep I’ve ever spoken with. He couldn’t answer any of my questions about the product but at the same time kept pressuring me to make the purchase over the phone. Our conversation even got ugly when he kept calling me “Jay-Jay” in a Jersey accent as if he where a character straight from a Jerky Boys prank phone call (My name is not Jay-Jay). When I asked why their camera prices where so much cheaper than the average the response I received was “because we buy everything in bulk”. Well doesn’t everyone? This same camera sells for $300 more on CostCo.com. Basically, it felt like I was talking to someone in a boiler room. I will never do business with bestpricecameras or any of the other businesses they operate. ivonne 03-08-2007, 12:06 PM Has anyone bought anything from http://www.bestpricecameras.com? Are they bait and switch company? Thanks. Hi, I did'nt buy from them, but I alsmost did. There was a great offer for a Rebel XTI, so I took it and placed an order. There was no clear idea of what was in the box! I was called back by a salesrap. He tried to get me into buying lots of extra stuff at way to high prices (Which ofcourse he told me it was a great deal). He also asked me which battery I would like to order. When I asked him why, he told me that there was never a battery with the camera. I had checked the Canon site, and a battery is OFCOURSE included. So I cancelled the order. The rap was not so polite anymore at this time. I tried ordering at Expresscamera's.com. They were even more awfull then Bestprice, lying about stuff(Which I recognised because I did some research before ordering) and offering me lots of extra's fot to much money. He even told me that I agreed to an offer he just made me. I had to tell him NO TREE TIMES!!! When i stuck to the original order they confirmed. Then send me an email within minutes that my order was cancelled because it was out of stock. Conclusion: Be prepared, know what you want and about the price of items. Real cheap on the internet is almost certain a scam. Don't fall into buying extras since the'll cost you a fortune. catman 03-08-2007, 08:39 PM Has anyone bought anything from http://www.bestpricecameras.com? Are they bait and switch company? Thanks. Same experience here. They advertised a Sony DCR DVD-108 camcorder for $299. I got an email wanting to "confirm" my order and later a telephone call indicating they had trouble charging my credit card. I've been ordering via internet for over 10 years and haven't had a problem but I think Visa has data on these scammers and declines charges to them. The guy "Ken" told me "I needed a retail package for the camcorder because it doesn't come with a battery or a charger". Not true. If you look at the contents of the camcorder box on other websites, it comes with a battery and charger. Then he told me I needed a "UV filter to protect the lense". Valued of course at $59.00 but I could have it for $39.00. In the end, this "$299 camcorder" price was approaching $500.00! I canceled my order. If they try to charge my Visa, I'll deny the charge. What crooks!! KWFlateau 03-13-2007, 01:32 PM I have been searching the web for best prices for Canon equipment and found the Web site "www.bestpricecameras.com" to have the camera (5D) that I was looking for. The price quoted on the site was $1179.00 w/o lenses. this was fine with me as I already have the lenses. When I pressed the individual on the phone for information regarding the contents of the package the camera came in, he stated that this was a "replacement Shell" and that nothing came with the "Shell"...no battery, no software, no cables, no nothing! He stated that I would have to spend a good $2500 to get a fully operating camera; that I would search the web and find hundreds of stores selling this camera for more $. When I stuttered on a few of my words...I'm not of perfect speach!...he actually made fun of me! I am really glad I called and did not trust the internet for this purchase. The real feeling I have in my gut is to deal in a real personal way with this idiot! I don't have to tell you my recommendation for this scammer. we shuld inundating them with phone calls for false purchases...you know build an order to a hugh price, then say "No thank you, you scum bag" . Might not help, but it sure would feel good! STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!! Ryan - Photobox Studios 03-13-2007, 08:26 PM According to the BBB they may also be using: Best Stop Camera Century 21 Digital EBuys Hello Camera Infiniti Cameras Infiniti Photo Infinity Cameras J&K Cameras, Inc. Mr. Accessory Regency Camera Regency Photo & Video, Inc. They will likely continue to keep adding to this list to keep it fresh. They suck! Don't be fooled. If you wanna spend well over retail, order from me! :) Macgyver777 03-15-2007, 09:57 AM I tried to buy a Hitatchi LCD Projector for my moms church. Learned my lesson with this one. If it looks too good to be true (IT IS!!!). They had priced this projector $300 or so less than most sites like B & H. I went ahead and ordered only to have them call the next day asking if I wanted the 2000 hour or 4000 hour bulb. The 2000 hour bulb was $290 and the 4000 hour was $400 something. (I don't think anyone makes a 4000 hour bulb. So I bet they send you the same thing no matter which bulb you choose) I replied, "I only want the standard bulb it comes with from the manufacturer. He said "it does not come with a bulb" , I said, why would a company sell an item you can not use unless you buy a bulb seperatelly. Then he said, it comes with a 25 hour starter bulb. I was realizing this was a scam as I have purchased many projectors over the years for church presentation systems. I then asked if it doesn't come with a bulb and I add a bulb on do you open the package and install the bulb for me? He said "yes we install it for you" He actually sounded like he was being helpful. Then I said "if you open the box to install the bulb you are voiding the warranty for the item. You are not legally able to sell it as new if it has been opened." He then started to get mad and say I was asking the same question different ways and that he had already answered it. I said, cancel my order you crook, and had to yell cancel multiple times and hung up on him. I had my mom cancel her credit card number and the only thing I feel good about is he had to make two long distance calls to ask for the upcharges. So knowing he got no money from me, but had to pay for those calls at least means I won a bit in the end. I did learn a valuable lesson, if a site looks too good to be true, it is. I will search on a sites name and see if anyone has been scammed. Or, just buy from B & H who are a good company. I agree with the others on this post... If everyone is letting the BBB and Attorney General of NY know about these companies why have they not been shut down. I guess if they move the brick and morter stores as often as they do it is hard for the law to track them down. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM BEWARE!!!!! :mad2: cowlaw 03-22-2007, 02:17 PM I ordered a digital SLR from BestPriceCameras in August 2006. Total price $844 and I agreed to pay $72 extra for next day air. Their site didn't give a final price so I tried backing up to do a screen save. The result was three orders being placed. It should be a warning when a company doesn't state what will be charged to your account. I called to ensure only one order and was subjected to a high pressure sales job to "upgrade" from the Canon stabilized lens to an off brand alternate and to buy batteries etc. I said all I wanted was the battery that came with the camera body and the lens I'd ordered. The camera body and the lens arrived the next day as ordered - with an invoice for $1289! The bastards billed my Visa an extra $373 over the price reflected on the order form. I protested and received a form email saying they were busy. I also immediately protested my Visa bill. It is now mid-March 2007 and I just got off the phone with Visa (again) which has demanded I pay the $373 because I kept the camera and lens and do not deny that I ordered them. I did get what I ordered – but the addition of $373 to my bill was outright fraud. Visa has changed their address and fax numbers numerous times during my months of protests and every time I respond to the address / fax number dictated by Visa they claim the address / fax number was not valid and give me a new address. Visa continues to stand behind their "merchant" – saying the merchant sent me a long life battery and charger. All I received was the battery and charger that come in the box with the camera from Canon – the charger and battery BestPriceCameras is now saying it sent are not what comes with the camera, they are not what I received, and the battery would not even fit into the camera I purchased. Anyone who purchases from BestPriceCameras had better be prepared to be ripped off, and if you expect charging the purchase on your Visa will protect you from fraudulent charges – you will be sorely disappointed there too. josephhsiao 03-25-2007, 08:01 AM Apparently reporting to the BBB and ICCC does not work because they are still in business and I'm the next victim. I have reported to my CC company that we will disbute their scam charges. They are definitely rude and will snap back at you if you try to fight with their charges. If you want to cancel, they will charge you restocking/cancellation fee which is not even posted anywhere on their website. Berger Bros have them for $2,399 each!! Then we came apon BestPriceCameras.com.. They had the same camera PLUS 12 accessories in their super kit #4.. All for $1,819!! What a deal!!! In fact.. one accessory is a "8-Hour Battery..." I can only imagine the upsell pressure they will put on us after we would go for this package!!!! Since we were going to buy 2 of them (almost a $4000 sale!!), they would try to get us for a lot more Im sure!! I was worried that they were selling grey market items. So I decided to scan the web for them and found this forum. There is a lot more to worry about then grey market here!! I feel very bad for everyone that was ripped off and had to go through hell. But rest assured that your experience has not gone un-noticed!! Not only have you save me and my family from them but, I will in turn warn my friends and family.. Once again. thank you!! - Marty tommykim 04-05-2007, 12:52 PM I almost buy canon xti body from bestpricecameras.com. I ordered that camera on line a couple of days ago. Still I haven't received email for confirm. Maybe tomorrow I will get the call for confirm. I felt some strange things and searched company's feedback on internet. After that, I really mad. Actually I found this company from google when I search this camera. I trusted in google. I sent to them email that notice cancellation of my order. I have no idea that I have to call them for notice of cancellation. Anyway they can't charge any restocking fee or cancellation fee because I cancelled my credit card today. I want anyone not to have a mistake like me. Ned 04-14-2007, 07:27 AM I agree, I was about to be scammed too, I placed an order with bestpricecameras.com and waited for 2 weeks, but noting showed up, when I called they asked me for the credit card key number and also asked me if I need the batteries and the charger, and that the price would go up from 339 to 499. I said forget it and I cancel my order, I was lucky I stopped the transaction, I hope they will not charge my credit card jordegcam 04-25-2007, 03:57 PM Sadly enough, I have had a terrible experience with this company. I saw a Leica V Lux 1 advertised for a good price, and placed an online order. The next day, I got a call from BestCameraPrices telling me that the camera did not come with a battery, a charger, and so forth. They also offered to 'upgrade' the SD card, and they basically ran up the bill from $849 to $1600.00! I was calling from a cell so I could not add up the numbers. Luckily, I got my camera, but I would caution anyone against using this site. I plan to report them to the NY State Attorney General's Office, and suggest that you all do the same. These people have very poor business practices. As many others I was lured by cheap prices, than all events were in familiar scenario: prices doubled, I tryed to cancel, 10% cancellation fee, that doesn't exist and offering memory card as a freaking gift!!!! , being nasty and so on.... So, is there any way to destroy those greedy bastards or not? My credit card company told me that even if cancel my card, they can still charge me and I would have to dispute. All disputes usually ending in verdict that merchant is right and you end up being charged anyway. I am so mad and thinking what to do, since as I understood correctly, complaining to BBB doesn't work?:mad2: shodawg 05-06-2007, 09:48 PM Damn. Ordered from these guys today, 5/6/2006! Will attempt to cancel with the help of my bank tomorrow. floor239 05-08-2007, 02:48 PM yeah did the same, called yesterday to confirm and they did that whole battery crap stint. from 569 my bill came to 859...i know its not much but still...those shmucks should go to jail, seriously. and so many people have complained about them yet still no one has arrested them. I called my credit card company and they told me that it cant be cancelled and that i should bring it up to their fraud department. within 30days i should get a result. RIGHT. it's like everyone's in this fraudulent act. They shipped the camera already and i got a tracking info. They've cancelled my account in the CC, i'm tempted to just keep the camera and not pay them at all. Has anyone done that? Just take it and have the last laugh? Drive 05-10-2007, 04:21 PM yeah, I also fell victim d200 for $1100 so couple hundred cheaper, cool. package #11, 2 NIKON *the list said they were included* 17-? and 70-300 lens bag cleaning stuff 2 gb memory card strap blah blah blah all for $1400, sweet!!! confirm email with order number. good then, on this past monday checked the price again, down to $989 holy crap, this cant be right. called them up, talked to KEN at x283, did the whole sales pitch no battery etc. i told him, that camera comes with a battery in the factory box, he said no, that they are "wholesellers" and can get them that way, and that the "retail package" was $350. I asked why they would offer everything in a package that you would need to get "started" and not include 1) a battery 2) charger 3) cables 4) firmware for the camera to operate i said cancel my order, he said no problem while trying to hang up also with that will be $350. i yelled WHAT? before he could and said some bull crap about restocking, and stuff. i told him that the order hasnt left yet! then he said well we are not making money off you, you cant find this camera anywhere else for this price. DUH, this is why i ordered with you in the first place. So he asked what i want to do, i told him i want my D200 and i want my Nikon lens'. Still at $1400 if nothing else shows up then oh well. then he said "they dont come with nikon lens', they come with lens' that fit nikon" I said NO. they come with NIKKOR lens' as the package said. he started to get short with me and told me that he would help me out since i was on a budget, and throw in a "Tamron 70-300 Glass lens" i was so pissed i said whatever just get me my camera. after doing some research and calling and waiting on hold for customer service many times and talking to 5-6 different people all stating that they were a "NIKON authorized dealer" i found out they were not, and finally got a hold of ken again, and told him i wont be accepting the package and be cancelling my credit card and disputing the charge. i have contacted my bank and they are going to fight it for me, and get my money back within 10 days. and an investigation will be taking place with VISA and BestPriceCameras.com. Skum bags. CEOsmallbiz 05-14-2007, 08:30 AM Amen to all the above. Add me to the list of suckers that fell for this SCAM. I thought the advertised price on that camcorder was too good to be true but I ordered it anyway. Turns out they never intended to sell it for that price. He tried to upsell me on some accessories and extended warranty. I said "good sales effort, but no thanks." Then he became very rude, finalized the order, and when I asked him the final total - it was $799.00 (for a $449 camcorder!) I told him "No way"! - He tried to tell me that I had already agreed to add an extra battery - which I did NOT! He told me the camera didn't come with one so I wouldn't be able to use it without his extra battery. I knew he was lying and told him I just wanted the camera. That's when he said I was "wasting his time and he was cancelling the order". This is why I say they never intended to sell it at the price advertised. This is a bait and switch scam. The worst part is, I found out they have been doing this for years now. Apparently, no one has done anything to shut them down. shutterbutter 05-14-2007, 06:34 PM UHHHH Those rip off artist make me soooo mad. I orderd from Broadway Photo. When they tried to hike up the price on my order, luckily my debit card declined it. ( They told me that my camera would be in Japanese if I did not order the more expensive model) I knew my account did not have the amount they wanted to charge me, so when they sent me an email whining about how the card was declined, I replied, Awwww, that really sucks for ya, maybe you should quit trying to rip people off!!! Then I went and withdrew all my money and closed my account. Those guys have got to be stopped!!! It's war I tell ya.:mad2: michael_london 05-26-2007, 07:28 AM Wow, what a bunch of rotten banannas. I called them 3 times, re a canon D80 and they keep changing the story. I called canon and asked what the best retail price I could expect, and it was hundreds over what these guys advertise. On one call they simply said "because we have lower costs", another call, it was big rebates... They would not tell me exactly what the camera kit included. I hope every single one of us that had similar or worse experiences sends a formal complaint to the New York State Attorney Generals office here: http://www.oag.state.ny.us/contact.html Or, maybe they will cheat the wrong mafia type, and will just disappear. The short of it is: there are no "wow" deals. Reputable resellers all sell within a few dollars fo each other. Watch out also, even with reputable dealers, they have dozens of different lens deals, which is how they make up some of the difference. camy 05-28-2007, 10:47 AM I am in the market for a Sony HDR-SR1. After doing a google search, DealSnatch.com, a pricing comparison site, came up at the tip top of the page. As of the date and time of this post DealSnatch.com is listing Bestpricecameras.com as a 4.5 star (out of 5) vendor and of course is the cheapest. Innocently, I placed my order a couple of days ago and called the company this morning to see when a tracking number would be available. Of course they did the bait and switch. Insisting that the camcorder is an OEM version and does not come with the OS software that will enable the camcorder to even record. Also they wanted me to buy a host of other items, batteries, lenses etc. I called Sony and they stated that the camera should come with the following: AC adapter Powercord Component Cable Audio Video Cable USB Cable Wireless remote Rechargeable battery CD Rom Handycam software (computer) User guide/manual And unless stripped off the hard drive, the OS and any software should be fully loaded on the camcorder. I called BPC back and they said to buy the camera from Sony, when I insisted that they provided the camera advertised, they stated that the camera was now backordered and would not be available for 7 weeks and when they get more stock they would provide a new price. Apparently these guys have been going for some time. What can be done? camy 05-28-2007, 11:20 AM Useful info: http://www.bbbnewyork.org/reports/businessreports.aspx?id=12668 Internet Crime Complaint Center The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C). http://www.ic3.gov/ Better Business Bureau www.bbb.org stepaero2000 06-05-2007, 11:07 AM I placed an order online after finding a Nikon lens at the lowest price through Best Price Cameras. I submitted the order and figured I would have the lens in a week. 7 days later, no lens. So I called the customer service number where they told me I had to call in to confirm the purchase (what's the point of having online shopping if you have to call?). I was then transferred to an aggressive sales person who told me the lens I was purchasing was plastic and I should upgrade to the steel lens. After some questions, I agreed to the upgrade at $200 more. Another week passed and no lens. Got a call from customer service saying my card declined. I used a pre-set card because I am skeptical of these discount online companies. Sure enough, they were trying to charge me more than what I agreed by almost $150 so the card declined. When I told them I wanted out of the deal, they put me on hold for more than half an hour. Now I've been on hold for 45 minutes and I'm just passing the time by writing reviews like this one!!! The guy that put me on hold came back after half an hour and then put me right back on hold. All of a sudden, nobody to speak to. The whole process with this company has been terrible. They have a lousy Better Business Bureau rating for a reason. You get what you pay for. I'll stick to the reliable guys. Thanks for nothing! Ashkip 06-07-2007, 01:25 PM Me too...How come they can do this with people (stupid people) so many years? And seems like America has no Law for them !!! Are they support government by those money we pay them? Or what?:mad2: NEWguyWITHaPLAN 06-07-2007, 03:29 PM I ordered a Fujifilm S5 Pro from bestcameraprices.com for $999.000 with free shipping (Great Deal!!) Later in the day I received an email from Ken saying I needed to call 800-281-1724 ext.283. After I was on hold for a while Ken answered and promptly informed me, that if I wanted a “Retail” camera It would cost $1,899. I told him to just send what I ordered, He then got extremely upset AT ME???? Ken said “what did you think???”, when I responded “to be sent what was described, for the price listed” he really got Livid and hung up. I’ve done some research and found the B.B.B. is not to happy with them either. http://search.bbb.org/Results.aspx?n=best+price+cameras&add=&c=&st=&z= I don’t understand why the owner isn’t put in jail on fraud charges!!! :mad2: Mr Payback 06-09-2007, 08:05 PM If you want to get back at bestpricecameras.com I suggest that you click on their google adwords link alot and drain their google adwords budget. That will show them!!!!!:p photoreviewer 06-24-2007, 01:41 AM As a professor of photography and film/videography for 35 years, I have dealt with most every occurrence I read in all these posts about On-line and magazine sellers of camera gear. Unscrupulous as many are, there are mentioned many who are legitimate and trustworthy. But still there is always going to be both good and bad from everyone who sells something. If you have problems with a vendor and have exhausted your list of options, be sure to also contact, in writing, the manufacturer, i.e. Sony, Canon, Nikon, etc. with all the pertinent details of your experience. Also, if you followed an On-line link to a disreputable seller, contact their Internet Server, the Website that sponsored the link you followed, and the other places mentioned in many of these posts, i.e. the BBB, Mayor, State Attorney, etc. I too have met with many of these thieves-in-the-night and despise their tactics, the best of which comes from my experience with wanting to purchase another Sony HVR-Z1U HD camcorder that was priced "too good to be true". After investigation, the good price was because the Z1U advertised did not come with a lens (an additional $1500-1700). My saving grace was the phone calls I made prior to relinquishing my credit information. Here are a few guidelines that usually save me: 1. I make more than one call for information to the same sales person before I place an order; this says to me that I can reach the same individual at the same extension should I need to call after the order has been placed. Ask for a list of exactly what you will receive and ask them to repeat any fast-talking mumbles you did not understand. If you don't like their phone etiquette you probably won't like their customer service and post-sales help. 2. I shop around to see how my desired item is advertised at many other places, even the high-priced and retail places just to be sure I will be receiving a factory-fresh item with all the accessories. If the store I’m thinking of using differs from the correct accessories I tell them why I will not order from them and then tell them, "Good-bye". 3. When I am placing the order I ask for the Serial Number of the exact item they will be shipping so I can advise my Homeowner Insurance provider of the purchase; tell the vendor this is why you need the information. If they won't comply they probably don't have the item in stock. And if this is the case and you suspect a bait-and-switch, call your insurance company anyway to advise them of the drill for their own edification. 4. Tell the vendor/salesperson ahead of time that YOU will be calling back the next day to confirm that the item is in stock and is waiting to be shipped; call your credit card company also ahead of the purchase to alert them that you are placing an order with the vendor so that they will have an advance record that you will be making a purchase of x-amount of money on a particular day. You can also have your credit card company put an alert on your purchase in case the vendor gets greedy and inflates the amount or does not honor their 'no charge until shipped' promise/policy. 5. If you think the aggravation you may encounter is worth the immediate 'attitude' that comes with the discounted price, then you may "get what you paid for". If your life without extra stress is important then pay a little more and buy from a reputable company. Who is reputable? I can't include here any company that has not given me both good and bad times, but by following the 5 Rules above I at least minimize the blunt head trauma self-invoked from trying to save $50 from a ratty vendor. Hopefully this contribution will help others, while I'm sure some others may find it not to their liking. But having spent well over $300,000 in my illustrious career of both my own and that of students, I no longer meet my match and no longer am disappointed with my purchase selections. I truly hope some people benefit from this post. Rev. Orin Jenkins The Photo College ffcamera 07-03-2007, 09:29 AM  Yes I did!! I am still mad at myself for this poor choice. I had gotten kits for film cameras, and have never had a problem until I went to this site. I orderd Nikon D-80 kit seven with a long life battery. hi speed 2 gig card, and uv filters. I didnt get most of the kit. I only got the D80 body, 70-300 lens, uv filter 2 geg card, and some of the cheap items listed in the kit. I called and was told Frank ext 272 would call at 0900 the next day and he would insure that I would get the missing items. No call and no replies to my repeated calls and e-mails. This company sells grey market cameras which you cant warranty, get software updates and you need to send to Japan to get it repaired. So I shipped their items back with out a RMA that they wont give you as they dont answer calls. I called and changed my credit card number, and requested a full reversal of the charge. I also filed complaints with the FTC NYCBBB and the New York State AG's Office. Advice on this company is dont BUY from them, file complaints, send their grey market cameras and lens back with or without their RMA , and make them sign for it. Also insure it when sending back. The insurance they say they charge you to ship is really the cost of shiping from Brooklyn to you. UPS DHL charge about 1.00 per 100.00. Final word on these guys is stay away, and if you are like myself and made the mistake of buying just keep fighting and get the word out on this company and others owned by INF/MRAC/JF. wayne8414 07-23-2007, 04:21 PM Why none of you report them to the NYPD here: http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/html/ssb/brooklyn.html Or report them to the Internet Fraud department of FBI? I had bad experience with someone online selling me on eBay, after few people contacted me for my experience, I called the police department and emailed to the chief. The chief sent one of his officer knocking on the doors for me. Next week, the order came in as ordered. triaker 08-29-2007, 09:16 AM I noticed on the bestpricecamera.com website that they have a seller rating of 5 stars. But based on the reviews on this website, one has to wonder: 1. Did they have the salesmen give the "5 star ratings"? 2. This has been going on for years, why hasn't anyone done anything? Going to the proper authorities hasn't seemed to help. Has anyone contacted the local news channels? Most have a "scam busters" or similar segment, maybe shining a bright light on these scammers will have these cockroaches running for a dark hole they never come out of. Olusola 09-01-2007, 03:20 AM I have been looking tto purchase the Xti and saw the best price cameras online store. i told a friend and he suggested that those prices were unbelievable. two more persons said they would be careful with such advertised prices. Well, I called by phone the local phne number of best price cameras in Brooklyn(718-998-2975) because i lived outside of the US, and spoke to someone who appeared to be jeering and comical. I had to repeat four times that i was trying to get some info on a camera before the guy responded a little civil like. After my asking he just said it was out of stock and hung up right there on me. I still tried to make sense of their low prices and constantly tried to see aome customers' response of this online store. Fortunately I saw one and from there i became very cautious asking two of my friends in the US to check them out for me. One told me that they seem legitimate, whereas the other a photographer too told me he saw the BPC and didnt like something about it saying that the prices were unbelievable too. Well, last night i just happened to be browsing and came upon this forum and my fortune of reading what has been going on with BPC. It was only yesterday that I tooka friend to make and order through a courier service telling them that we were going to get back to them on the purchase from BPC. I am happy to say that this forum served me well. I may have been a victim were it not for this forum. Thank you all. Olusola. PS. In Jamaica there is a saying that ' ANYTHING CHEAP IS NOT GOOD'. anahinada 09-06-2007, 08:01 AM JUST DO NOT GO THERE ==> www.bestpricecameras.com THE WOREST PLACE TO THINK OF beezta0 09-18-2007, 11:52 AM Same exact story as all the others - I just wish I would have seen the posts yesterday before I placed my order!!! I have tried twice to cancel my order, but only to have been hung up on three times. DO NOT EVEN give these guys the time of day, this is the worst experience I have ever had. They called me last night about 8:30 and when I tried to call back it stated the number had been disconnected, that should have been a red flag for me, but when I finally spoke with someone this morning they stated that the camera did not come with a battery, charger, or in a box and that I would have to purchase all those things seperately. I was adding up the additional costs for a battery, charger, etc. as STEVE was rambling off the costs at the same time refrencing the same camera online at Best Buy whose camera contains the battery & charger as their price sky rocketed way above the brick and mortar stores - they is definitely a bait and switch scam - please don't fall for it like i did!!! Photle 09-24-2007, 05:28 PM yep, I was also fooled by the low prices on this site. Seemed like a legit site, and I wanted the canon HV10 camcorder. Best price I could find anywhere, so I tried to order it. Found that hey had "silver, gold" packages etc, and the gold package for 800 dollars seemed very good. After placing the order I got a mail about someone having to call me to verify the order, seemed suspicious right away, but I thought ok. Start to talk with this guy, who adds alot of stuff and talks around. I ask him what the final charge is, and he says 1100 dolalrs. I'm like wtf, I'm not willing to spend that. I say I want the original package, for the price advertised, he says I have to buy a battery and a charger. I'm sitting by my computer and saying that canon.com says it comes with battery and charger, he says this aint the retail package, and that I have to buy a charger for like 200 dollars. I say that you can just as well cancel my order then, he says he will have to charge me 15% cancellation fee, i couldn't remember reading anything about that, and say I will call him back in 5 minuites after checking some stuff. I check with canon, call amazon and ask them if their package comes with everything, and it does, and try to search their site for any mention of a cancellation fee, which it doesn't. I then try to calll him back to cancel my order, but I only get his voicemail. I leave a msg on his voicemail saying that I want to cancel my order, and that I will not pay any cancellation fee cause the package is not shipped yet and that it is not mentioned anywhere. After making this call I go on IRC to see if anyone else have had any business with this company, and I'm shown this topic. Now I'm beating myself up for not noticing this topic earlier. I called bank of america to cancel my card so that they can't charge it (hopefully? :cryin: ). And I just hope it wont get any worse :( STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY IF YOU CAN BY ALL MEANS! rusticellars 09-25-2007, 12:38 PM hahaha, yea I got the "out of stock" e-mail with order canceled(including cancellation #) when I ordered the canon eos 5d 2gb package and only added a 100mm macro lens totaling purchase to about $1,668(superb deal if legit) and had told them over phone confirmation that I had ordered the "extras"(battery, filters etc) from other sources. guess it'd be wise to change credit card info in case of other fraud minglings. jdelaney62 09-26-2007, 08:57 PM It appears that www.expresscameras.com may also be the same company. MoM$CooKin 11-05-2007, 04:01 PM I am so upset I do not know where to start. RUN AWAY from this site as fast as you can. You will be scammed. I never got an initial email confirmation of my order after coughing up my credit card info. RED FLAG...Called and the response:"OOO we dont have that" LIES...I waited a week for confirmation of delivery and upon further digging regarding my order... 2nd RED FLAG "Oh that is back ordered. We are out of Canon 40Ds and it will take 8-10 weeks".....I canceled however was suckered into the BAIT and SWITCH for a diff lens than what I wanted with the body..."Oh we will use this wonderful rebate"...You get the picture...Feeling distressed at having not listened to my inner voice after all these RED FLAGS i canceled the order...The lens I didnt want and had canceled came in the mail. Oh what a surprise.....I returned it the next day and found to my amazement that I had been billed. When I contacted my credit card company to complain I was given the phone # that went with the bill. 4TH RED FLAG...The bill was not from bestpricecamaras as the gentleman stated "Oh we are just a drop site for delivery"...Customer Service at bestprice stated "it takes at least 21 days to clear and oh by the way you will be charged a restock fee"...My rage at being charged a restock fee, having canceled the order and having it sent anyway as well as paying $10 to insure and send back the lens was overbearing to say the least......My credit card I instantly nuked so SCAMS ARE US bestpricecameras.com wont get a penny....:mad2: MoM$CooKin 11-05-2007, 04:02 PM I double posted...I hit initial send and it appeared unsent. Anywho now that I dicovered this great site I will dig in and learn some new stuff.... Kimberley Taylor 11-09-2007, 01:22 PM Here's my story from July 05 (Can't believe these guys are still in business!) Recently I had a winfall that would have allowed me to purchase a better digicam and so went about researching the various cameras, prices and stores online. I decided on a Nikon D70s - the evolution of last year's award winning D70 and a grade up from the new civilian model D50. I found a great price on a package athttp://bestpricecameras.com/229995-239948-1-D70s-KIT-#-3-(28-70-&-70-300)-PLUS-EXTRAS.html Granted, $799 for all that (the lenses they say are Sigmas) seems like too little money I admit, so I really asked questions. I was then treated like a tool by two different salesmen and eventually a "manager" named Dennis. It all started over batteries. This "kit with extras" does not include such basic "accessories" as batteries, charger or a manual - they'll sell you the book for $80 and allegedly the cheapest batteries they have to offer are the nikon EN EL3 which are the very ones that come in the package directly from Nikon and the recommended ones from the Nikon website which claims they last up to several weeks and 2,500 shots...BUT...BestPriceCamera.com claims (verbally) that their cameras are hybridized by the Nikon factory before they reach their warehouses, and that they only use (insert generic name here) batteries which start at $200 (the charger is even more). The guy went on to tell me that the EN ELs are crap that Nikon made too many of and are now trying to foist upon the public. Also, you must be very careful to check the shipping prices at these sites...theirs started at over $45 for UPS ground (10-14 days) and in one day went up to $60. They also stated on the link to buy "just the camera body" that if you upgraded to a package that shipping would be upgraded to express free of charge. After I'd given my cc info to "Ted" he informed me that that was only for "deluxe packages" not any old generic package as it states PLAINLY on their site: see here: http://bestpricecameras.com/227265-0-1-25218-Nikon-D70s-New-Digital-Slr-Body-USA.html When I started asking these hard questions each of the people I spoke with became more agitated, then aggressive and then downright rude and even a bit threatening. The last words from the last guy before he hung up on me (Dennis, the "manager") were: "Lady, look at our prices...think of it this way..you can't get a Mercedes Benz for $10k and if you can, let me know, I'll take a dozen....You get what you pay for" After I added up all their additional costs for "accessories" the price is more than going to Circuit City and buying a starter kit with a standard US Warranty, lens and (surprise) a freaking manual. Whew! At least I was able to hammer them down to the truth before I made a $1000 mistake. Please pass this warning along to any and all others who might be drawn in by these "unbelievable prices." The guy as much as admitted that these cameras are crap and not legitimate Nikon D70s as they are hawked on their website. Caveat Emptor and happy shooting. Kimberley http://www.pbase.com/khtaylor AAABill 11-13-2007, 12:01 PM Another SUcker Here... Worst buying experience of anything on-line in my life. I was hooked by the incredible prices on the Pentax K10D, and made my first call to ask about their 'kit prices'. I was told that the lenses in one kit were Sigma Pro lenses, and I was ready to buy. Upon calling back, I was slow to see how stupid I was: first- 'no, the lenses are plastic, but you can upgrade to the pentax lenses for $200. THen came the battery game, the memory card game, and of course, the warranty game. :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE. :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: I tried to cancel the order, I called back twice to cancel the order- all were 'refused'. Then I tried to cancel my credit card, but the order was already posted. THen they shipped the camera anyway and when I returned it, tried to charge me a restocking fee. After all this, I started getting bogus, yet untraceable charges on my credit card. I've had to go through a month of B.S., cancel my credit card, and spend hours worrying about these a*sholes. Buy from Cameta- they are dreamy in comparison. maximus 11-20-2007, 12:35 PM Here is an email I just wrote them.
