Looks like I may become a Nikonian again...

While shooting the breeze about a half hour ago with a new member of our Chamber, I was informed that this person has sitting around in her house a Nikon film camera, some lenses, and other accessories. She said she once took a photography class and got into it a little, but never really did anything with it and that I can have it all if I want it–FREE. I have no clue what she has sitting in her box at home so I might be just a little more excited than I should be. But then again...who knows what she's got? It'll be interesting to find out. I'll post some pictures when I get it home tomorrow.

That sounds like a pretty good deal Ray. Even if it is Nikon.

Here's the picture of her I'll be using for our newsletter. Shot in RAW at f/1.8, 1/80th, 400 ISO. I had to shoot with these settings because of such low lighting in her shop, and I am currently without my 550EX because the plastic shoe broke on it. Unfortunately it left a few hotspots in certain areas on her skin, but for our Chamber's purposes it will work just fine.

By the way, congratulations on the big 5000! Good gosh, man, you talk a lot!

Wanna hear something funny? When I first read your post I thought you said, "Where's the pics of the goddesses?" LOL. My contacts are playing tricks on me!

The lady is supposed to bring the camera and stuff in to her shop tomorrow. And I'll probably pick it sometime after lunch. To be truthful, I don't even know if the camera's an autofocus or manual focus, or how many lenses or what accessories come with it. It's all a big surprise me. But hopefully we'll all get to see tomorrow.

There's nothing wrong with being in both camps...as long as it's free!

That's a great deal. It's funny, I've been emailing a professional photographer who lives in Texas that got his start when someone at the corporation he worked at GAVE him a Mamiya (sp?) medium format camera because they weren't using it and knew he was a photographer. It's alway neat to hear about people receiving gifts like this because it doesn't happen often.

Whether it's high end or low end equipment, it's still a great gesture and a neat way for you to start the New Year.
