Canon Rebel film cameras: what's the difference?

between the Ti, 2000 & k2 Rebel cameras?

I am planning on buying my 16-year old daughter a decent film camera but since I really don't know much about film cameras I need a bit of direction from some of you experienced users.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Compare specs and features at http://www.canoneos.com/ and at http://www.canon.com/camera-museum/camera/f_camera.html (click on EOS)

Rebel Ti replaced the Rebel 2000 (which replaced the Rebel G, which replaced the Rebel XS, which replaced the Rebel II, which replaced the original Rebel) Each successive generation is improved in performance and features, and generally smaller and lighter than the preceding model. The Ti's improvement over the 2000 includes adding metal lens mount, higher mounted built-in flash, large back-lit LCD function panel on the back, improved controls and refined AF and metering algorithms.

The Rebel 2K is a decontented version of the Ti. An ecomonical alternative, it lacks some of the more advanced features such as depth of field preview.

Another Rebel in the current line-up is the Rebel G II (called Rebel XS N at the camera museum site). It is a low cost reprise of the Rebel G with 3 point AF and 6 zone evaluative meter (2000, Ti and 2K have 7 point AF and 35 zone meter).

Thanks Lemming. That pretty much answers my question!
