    XMAS Tornado 2008

29 hours without power. The weekend after Christmas on Saturday afternoon, WHAMMO ! Snapped telephone poles and a few interesting scenes. And the Ice Storm damage wasn't even all cleaned up!

The Big Pano shot of a corn crib that just sort of came apart. There's a photo of straw bales (the big round things in the foreground) about 50-75 feet away from the remains of the structure that only had a plastic cover sucked off. Straight line winds would have scattered them over two counties.

A ball is in the foreground of one of the wide shots. Where it came from is a mystery and why it didn't move from that spot further is another of nature's mysteries.

All's relatively well now, no known injuries. Even the livestock in the area is reported uninjured. The cattle may not eat for a few days. Who really knows? The skunks though that lived in this crib are really, really, really, unhappy. I'm not photographing them for many days!!

There's a photo of a local RV place that had one of those strange occurrences where just two trailers were touched. And the utility workers setting poles.

More in my blog if you are interested.

    Re: XMAS Tornado 2008

It's fortunate no one was injured! Just like the one that hit here in May. We had the same thing with an RV sales place here too, a sign and 4 trialers destroyed and that was it. And like you said if it were straightline winds everything in it's path would have moved. The bottom photo shows that wasn't the case.
