Ok all you train fanatics - UP #844

I got an email mentioning that the last steam engine built for the Union Pacific was going to be in town for a day or so up in Oakland, CA. I decided that I was going to cut school and go check it out since I looooooooove trains, especially steam engines. I shot for about 1 1/2 hours & came home with a bunch of keepers.

Technical stuff: All shot with my D200, and a mixture of my 70-200 F2.8, 12-24 F4, and (mostly) my 30mm 1.4. All were processed in Lightroom, except for the last one which had some power lines cloned out.

    Wow, that is really cool.

I really like #2, it just shows you the size of the train. Great capture...

Wonderful work Scott. I always loved trains as a kid. Still do, I guess. Your shots really show off the enormity and detailed complexity of those monsters.

    Nice ones,Scott,
While not a train fan,I can see the photographic draw, might try this around my area - tho' a lot more seem to ride on top than inside.
I like No. 1 best, because it looks to me as though a grandparent is showing his little one something about the subject - but they are all good !

Great stuff Scott. I'd love a chance to see UP844. My favorite has to be #15. It's a classic looking photo. Love the black and white treatment. I love trains.
