So national geographic has a photo contest im thinking about entering. http://www.nationalgeographic.com/energizer/

    4) wildlife/nature (choose which one is best for those 4 catergories)
Title: Green Salamander says "i see you"

    Title: Northern Red Salamander

    Title: Salamanders Slimy Feet

    5) Science (this one is weak)
Title: Recently Caught and Released Elk calf: note ear tags

    6) space (which one conveys the space the best)
    Title: Viewing the La Sals
    far view

    Close view

    7) People/cultures

    Re: photo contest

Viewing all your fantastic photos reminds me of how far I have yet to go to be good. The second one with the land bridge and the rainbow is truely inspirational if not spiritual. I will say the second one of the two of La Sals I like the second one better. I think the first is good but the details in the mountains on the second really make it pop. I am not sure if it helps with the topic you are portraying. Although the clouds in the first are awesome. Hard to decide isnt it. Give up one aspect over another. Very nice indeed.

    Great Utah pictures!

I love the Delicate Arch shot the best.

    Re: photo contest

The first is a good shot but I don't think it would win a contest.
The second is by far the most likely to win or at least get an honorable mention.
I think your first wildlife/nature is better than the sallys.
Your two space shots are good and I agree the closer shot that shows the mountains is better but then you lose a little of the 'space' theme.
Your summer sostace shot is hard to make out what I'm looking at.
The festival is a nice shot but not a contest winner.
    Just opinions

    Re: photo contest

Thanks unclebuck, thats why i was debaiting between the two La Sal Shots. i am also worried the closer one may need a model release? which i don't have... haven't delt with them before so im not sure

Thanks spiraleyes, that Delicate arch shot is probbably my favorite picture ive taken.... and quite lucky

Thanks frog i value your opinion. I know some are alot weaker (science, cultures). Just though i may as well submit at least one per theme, and thought those portraid the theme the best. I still need to look through a few files and those may change ( plus i might go shoot specifically for it). also which nature wildlife one did you like? all three were salamanders.

    Re: photo contest

You shouldn't need a model release for the LaSalle shots as the person is not recognizable.

    Re: photo contest

I would say travel. It makes me want to visit the place. The second one with the guy on the ledge is also very good too. Maybe the rainbow for weather and that one for travel.
