Well, it's been a great ride.

It’s hard for me to believe that I have reached my 2,000th post here just a few days short of my one-year anniversary.

I have to admit that prior to me joining, I was a bit uneasy by some of the members’ length of time here and/or the number of posts submitted. Having never been a part of any forum, I thought members with 2k, 3k+ of posts were nuts! But soon after joining, I felt at ease here by the outreach of welcome extended by all the members (new and old).

I didn’t post my 1,000th memo because, frankly, I didn’t even know it had arrived. I noticed that at around 1400.

I believe that everyone has something to give and something to take. I certainly learned a lot here. I just hope that I was able to give something useful back. Thanks for allowing me into your community.

My apologies for being long-winded (or perhaps short-winded many times ). I hope to continue contributing to the community.

    Hideta (a.k.a. Loupey)

I got out for two hours before the sun set today. Winter finally arrived here about 2 weeks ago and it was 15°F when I finished my hike with frozen pants legs from walking in the stream.

It's hard to imagine anyone that has had more of a positive effect on PR in such a short time. Your beautiful images and thoughtful, knowledgeable responses to questions are an inspiration. Thanks for hanging out here. Hope you get at least 2K post every year for a long time to come.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Re: Well, it's been a great ride.

    Thanks, guys.

You’re all great examples of how members greet and treat the “new people”. It’s a testament to the character of the people here and how that sets the tone of this site. I’ve tried to do my best to emulate your nurturing example to help make this site as useful and friendly as possible.

I’ve been inspired by the diverse range of styles evident on these boards. For opening my eyes to new subject matter and new techniques, I selfishly take away from here with thanks to all.

I enjoy being part of such good company

I was holding my breath as I opened this because I was afraid you were going to say you were leaving. I am very relieved to find that I will be able to continue to enjoy your work. I agree with the others that you have made a great contribution here as you've joined the most helpful in dispensing advice.

I love that shot of the levitating ice islands.

    Loupey,

I have learnt a lot from your comments and your pictures. Still striving to catch up.

How do you chaps find the time to get such high numbers?

You mean I spend to much time thinking about each photo I see.

Hmmm! You just gave me a New Years resolution - first one in centuries:mad2:

    Hideta,
On a personal note I would like to thank you as well as others for all of the help that you have been. Your wealth of knowledge and eagerness to share it is appreciated very much. I have been on other forums but find the help here at PR to be much more professional. Keep up your kind work and thanks again for the time and help you have given me. If I ever figure this photography thing out I will surely remember your kindness and pass it on to others. And Congrats on #2000...

Re: Well, it's been a great ride.

Chunk: I hope to stay as long as I feel I can contribute. Thanks for the very nice words!

Paul: It's been my pleasure "working" with you in the N/W forum. Someone has to keep you under control Besides, you got me to look at birds as something other than eating/pooping machines. I suppose I know a lot of people who fit that description anyway

Roger: thanks! I'm very happy that I can be of any help here.

Greg: thank you! As for figuring this thing out - no one ever does. We're all on the same journey together; the destination keeps getting closer but none of us ever gets there

Loupey, your positive approach to your posts and comments have made you a great asset to this site and it's forums. I'm glad this wasn't a good bye thread, as Chunk said.
    Keep up the great shooting.
