Re: Welcome!!
Hi everybody.
On Monday my dad bought a Fujifilm FinePix S2 Pro off of his friend for me. My dad and his friend run a wedding photography business, and my dad already has a bunch of lenses and filters and stuff so I'm all set.
You can look at some of my pictures on deviantART, but most of them were taken by my old Canon PowerShot S2 IS, and some with my dad's old camera.

Re: Welcome!!
Greetings Gerald! Sorry for the delay in welcome! We're glad to have you on board. That Sigma S2 should work out to be a great camera for you. If you haven't already, please consider reviewing that S2 Pro as well as your dad's stuff! The gear reviews here really are what make the site and make it possible for us all to be here.
Again, welcome!

Re: Welcome!!
Hello everyone!
I just happened on this board and thought I'd jump in! My name is Christi. I am a stay at home mom (at the moment) to three kids. My family and I live in Spokane, WA.
I have always loved photography, but just recently decided to jump into the arena and look into schooling and possibly starting my own business.
I'm a total beginner, so please forgive my ignorance if I ask any dumb questions. I'd love some honest opinions on my work if you'd like to offer them! And I'll do my best to return the favor with my limited knowledge!
Can't wait to get to know everyone! :D

Re: Welcome!!
Hi Christi! Welcome to photographyreview. We're a great place for beginners because we are accepting and kind to everyone who is starting out - just like we were once. Have fun looking around and don't be afraid to ask any questions.

Re: Welcome!!
Good Morning All!!
My name is Natasha, I'm stationed out here at Travis AFB in California. I'm originally from a little town in South Eastern Kentucky but I’ve lived all over the world. I've always been interested in photography, but it never really struck my interest until I started seeing how important photography really is. You can capture a moment in time, and people can interpret it however they want-it brings a whole new meaning to the term "freedom of speech."
I just recently purchased a Nikon D60, it's been amazing thus far. I love my little Sony Cybershot, but I felt like if I was going to take this hobby seriously I needed some more serious equipment. I'm excited to get some real feedback; hearing "that's an awesome shot" from friends and family is encouraging but not that helpful! :) I'm thankful for their support though! I look forward to checking out the forums and galleries on a very regular basis!

Re: Welcome!!
I just joined this forum although I've used the reviews section of this site for years...Long time serious amateur photographer .Started out with Minolta in the late 60's, went to Konica in the early 80's & then on to Nikon in the 90's...Still have my Konica & Nikon MF & AF film gear as well as using a Nikon D70s...I do a lot of macro & dabble in IR as well...I'll post one of my better photos on the online Gallery....It made it to National Geographic online magazine last October...Looking forward to pleasant company & sharing of knowledge!!

Re: Welcome!!
Hello,
Been posting on other types of forums for years. Photography forums are new to me. Had a Nikon 995 for years and finally jumped on the DSLR wagon.
If there are other photography forums to participate in, please let me know. I'll probably be doing more reading than posting as my knowledge on this subject is limited at this point.

Re: Welcome!!
Hi All
Just joined up tonight after a successful night shooting a fireworks display down here in Motueka, New Zealand. I couldn't have done it without the very helpful advice I received via Sebastian Szyszka's Fireworks Photography Guide article which I found and read on your site before going out - thanks Sebastian. I am an application developer just getting into photography - better change my profile to beginner I think!! Your site looks excellent and I like the supportive atmosphere and look forward to being an active member. Regards to all from the top of the South New Zealand.
Oh yeah - I have a Nikon D70 18-70 mm with a second hand 300 mm lens I picked up on TradeMe for my Mountain photography - there are a lot around here.

Re: Welcome!!
Greetings! What a cool website! I have a question. I used my real name for my ID. Is that OK or should I change it?

Re: Welcome!!
Hi all,
My name translated to English is Alexander. You can call me Alex if you want. I am originally from Mexico but now living in Canada. Half my family is Canadian and the other half is Mexican.
I currently shoot with a Panasonic DMC-FZ7K and a system of accessories. I have been taking pictures for almost 2 years and look forward to learning from this site and improving my photography. Any advice on my posted photos would be greatly appreciated.
I am happy to help other members with any technical problems, and also provide feedback on their work.
I found PR while searching for places to review my gear.

Re: Welcome!!
Hello everyone,
My name is Rex. It's at times like this that I wish it was Ismael.
I live in the Shetland Isles, Scotland.
I've posted a profile that will probably give a better insight to me, than any self depreciating/glorification that I could write here.
I have just changed from film usage to digital, which means I have to learn yet another language, digital jargon.
I chose my Samsung GX10 because of my 50yr association with Pentax and I have the lenses to prove it.
I may over time ask some pretty inane questions. This is because I plead senility, which is a great excuse. I am disgustingly fit which is helped by living on a small island and having a new, young border collie. In dog years he is a teenager and loves eating, he is deaf when he decides to be and very stubborn.
Okay post No. 1 over.
I will now read all the posts in this thread and then branch out
-
Re: Welcome!!
Hi Rex, WELCOME to the forum! :D
You shouldn't have too much trouble adapting to digital as a good eposure is just that, whether digital or film.
If You have any questions though, feel free to post them. I'm sure someone here will have an answer for You.
You have a Border Collie? Me too! I think they're GREAT even though they are a bit hyperactive. :p

Pentax had/has some very fine lenses. I use some of their older screw mount models via an M42 to EOS adapter on my Canon 10D.
Oh, I also have a few K mount Pentax cameras, as well as a Spotmatic.

Re: Welcome!!
It would really be great if this site was actually easily navigated. I have been looking for Introductions Forum and a clue as to how to introduce myself for the last 20 minutes. How anyone can figure this out I have no idea, nor do I have that much time. WAAAAY TOO COMPLICATED!!!
I just wanted to say..."STAY AWAY FROM 86TH ST. PHOTO, DBA BROADWAY PHOTO. THEY ARE LIARS, CROOKS, AND WILL SCREW YOU. THEY SHOULD BE IN JAIL FOR MISREPRESENTING PRODUCTS. TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW. DO YOUR FRIENDS A FAVOR AND SAVE THEM FROM MAKING A HUGE MISTAKE. DON'T LOOK AT THE PRICES OF CAMERAS THEY SELL. IT'S ALL LIES AND DECEIT.

Re: Welcome!!
Hi and welcome, sorry you had problems navigating the site. From the "main" page showing all the forums, be sure to scroll down for the Camera Dealer Feedback and Site Feedback forums.
Those two forms would be a better place to address both of those issues, and both should have other information that will help you out. Feel free to send me a PM (private message) if you need any help. Click on my name to the left, then select "Send a private message...".
