    Re: Welcome!!
Just want to say hello, and I think I have found a bunch of people with the same interests as myself. My name is Mike and I have been into photography for about 15 years. I am a Pentax lover, but also have a Yashica 635, it does 35mm and also 120. Also have an old Canonet GIII that still works good. My main camera is my Pentax PZ-1. Backed up by K1000.
I live in west central Indiana, and am a retired truck driver. I am also interested in astronomy. I have a small telescope that I use for Lunar photography sometimes. I will post some pics when I have a little more time.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Hello! My name is Christina Matthews, and I live in northern California. I've been playing with cameras and doing small scale photography of nature and friends since I was a kid, but it wasn't really until recently that I decided to make it more of a passion. I'm still learning, and always open to suggestion and constructive criticism. I definitely wouldn't mind complements either if warranted! I look forward to getting to know everyone!

I’m Alex - and welcome to PR, Christina!

Here in Viewfinder is the place for general discussion about photography and sharing pictures. There are also several other, more specialized forums such as Help Files, Nature & Wildlife (one of my favorites) and Digital SLRs.

For obtaining critiques on your photos, the best place would be to post them in the Photo Critique forum or upload to the Photo Critique gallery.

Looking forward to seeing your work, and happy shooting!:)

    Hello all.
New member here. A little about me. I'm 52 yo, married with 25 yo twin sons. I've been taking pictures for fun for as long as I can remember. Not a "photographer" in the sense that I'm going to make a living at it, but more of a serious hobbyist. (I have a day job that helps me afford the camera habit.) Anyway, I went fully Digital SLR about a year and a half ago and have yet to regret it. It's great to just shoot away and not worry about running out of film. My wife and I enjoy the outdoors and hiking is a favorite activity. So I like to take lots of landscape, scenery, outdoor pictures while we are hiking. Makes for a great hike and a convenient rest every so often during the hike. ;)
I recently started using Nikon Capture NX 2 software and I'm loving it. So in searching for Capture NX 2 forums I found this place. I look forward to perusing the threads and reading messages and getting to "know" people in the forum.
Ah, we live in San Diego. One son is at home with us and the other lives in Portland, Oregon.
Glad to meet you all and I look forward to becoming an active member of this board.

    Hi Megan,
Thanks for the welcome. I'll likely get to posting pics soon enough. I have a link in my signature to the JPGmag website if you'd like to see a few for now. (Even got one published. :blush2: )

Hi people, you have got me into trouble already ! I have just spent the whole day browsing the site and it is a wonder and an inspiration, however, I should have been working and not reading about photography.
But really, this seems like a splendid site and I have already picked up some great tips that I cant wait to try out this weekend.
I put myself as an intermediate photographer on my profile, more due to the amount of photos I have taken rather than the time I have been photographing or the quality of my shots, but after looking around the site I am going to humbly change my profile to amature as I now realise I have a long way to go.
What I do have is a passion for nature, wildlife and photographing them and a Nikon D40X which is my first proper camera and the love of my life just now.

    Welcome Martin Brazil!:)

I totally agree with you about PR being splendid - I haven't seen other photo sites better than this one. (This is my personal opinion, of course).

I am also a nature lover.

I love taking pics. I recently purchased a canon rebel xti. I stumbled across this forum today while searching for photography ideas. Although I love taking pics, lately I haven't been taking any. I'm interested in nature and wildlife. I would say I'm an amateur photographer who wants to learn so much more. I hope to get reasons and motivation to put my camera to use.

Hello, newbie here. I currently shoot for fun with a Sony Cybershot DSC-W30, and I have found that once you know how to use your camera, you know how to get what you want out of it. As I type this, I'm waiting for my Canon EOS Rebel XSI to arrive! I finally took the plunge and now I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival! I really want to take photography to the next level and hopefully this site will help me! I welcome any critiquing and look forwarding to learning A LOT!

    Hello to all of you,
My name is Pam Wood, I am a photographer from Santa Cruz, CA. I have been a photograper for about 4 years now. I sell my images at Art Shows in California. My favorite subject matter is animals, sealife and nature. My art experience is really in painting on canvas using both paintbrush and airbrush, but I really like the instant gratification that comes with photography. I have found thru my own persistant self taught usage of photoshop that this art background has helped greatly in producing a great photo even better. I have had many magical moments in my pursuit of the "Perfect Shot". I have found that it can be more a matter of "LUCK" than experience to get that all elusive shot. (this is probably due to my ignorance in my Canon 5d knowledge) I'm sure all of you animal photographers know what I mean! It is not easy to get animals to look directly at you, and then get that shot in focus! Wow, can that be frustrating to have that opportunity and then fail. Thank god for digital. I will shoot 500 shots and maybe get 10 that are good and maybe 5 that are great. I have a website up now for about 2 months and am still waiting on some orders. I would really appreciate anyone who has the time to review my site and let me know what you think? pixelpame.com
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to hearing from you!

Hi! Just introducing myself. I'm no photographer, but I love to take pictrures. I'm here in Salt Lake City, Utah where there is plenty for me to photograph outdoors. I'm a massage therapist and my hobbies include snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, wakeboarding, camping, going to see live music, and writing. I just got an Olympus Stylus 850SW which works really well for me with my active lifestyle. Love that it's waterproof and shockproof!

I look forward to a little mingling in this community.

Welcome to PhotographyREVIEW.com! I took a quick look at your site. You've got a lot of variety and some cool animal stuff. You should probably also introduce yourself and share some of your photos on the Nature and Wildlife forum. I especially like the Santa Cruz aerial shots. I lived in San Jose until about a year and a half ago and rode my mountain bike in Santa Cruz a couple of times a week. Santa Cruz is one of my favorite places in Nor Cal.

My experience with your site was a little rough. It loads very slow and was hard to close. I suspect you're showing full size image files instead of smaller, more compressed images. In any case, right now, it's really hard to enjoy looking at the photos because the pages are so slow and tend to lock up. Hope that's useful to you. And I hope you stick around and share with us!

Welcome to PhotographyREVIEW.com, Jenni! It's good to have another Utah photographer join us. I saw your Olympus Stylus 850 SW review. Thanks for posting it. It's a great review. Those are great little cameras. Please jump right into the forums and post some of your 850 SW photos in the gallery!

    Hi guys.. another newbie here.

My name is Kate, I'm 23 from Hamilton Sq., NJ(trying to sell my house and move to South Jersey near Philly but doesn't look like that's happening anytime soon). I live with my boyfriend, 2 dogs (one mastiff mix, one australian shepherd mix and possibly rescuing another dog soon) and 2 cats. I'm a state worker (taxation :blush2: ) which I hate.. loved my old job as a veterinary technician but it just wasn't enough money unfortunately.

I started to get into photography years ago and I'm itching to get back into it so I'm hoping someone replies to my post about cameras soon. lol I've never really had a really nice camera so I'm excited to get one. I'm also a huge hockey/Flyers fan and would love to put a new camera to use at one of the games.

Anyways just wanted to say hi!

Well, I've been pestering the forums for a couple of months now so I thought a formal intro may be in order.

    Name: Terry F

    Age: 57

Residence: A Michigan transplant now living outside of Mundelein, IL

Occupation: Worked, went back to school at age 35, worked some more as a chemical engineer and then retired when they closed the plant.

Other interests: Love cycling. Since Oct. 2007, my wife and I have fostered dogs for Adopt-A-Pet (http://www.adoptapet-il.org/). I have included a composite picture of the delinquents that we have had so far. (I will try to keep it up to date.)

Photography: I have taken rather poor snapshots most of my life and recently had an eight year old P&S that just gobbled up batteries. I used it mostly for pictures of the foster dogs for the web sites. In mid-August (2008) I did some research and bought a DSLR and here I am jumping in with both feet.

That's great that you foster! That's what our next dog might be -- a foster. She was going to be put down by the breeder because she's sterile, so someone offered to take her and the breeder gave her away for free. Unfortunately, that person's wife wasn't too happy about it not to mention they are about to have their 5th kid (!!!) and just have no room for her (she's a 120 lb bullmastiff) so they keep her outside a lot. We are going to take her in and hopefully find her a good home and, if not, we will keep her.

We wanted to get into fostering but wanted to wait until AFTER we moved. haha

Anyway just wanted to give you a  and wish you best of luck in the future with everything!

    Hello Everyone,
My name is Neal McGuire. I'm hoping to pick up some good tip here and maybe pass on a few.

My wife and I own a real estate photography and advertising business in SE Missouri. We work with agents from Arnold Missouri down to Sikeston. However, most of our business is in the Cape Girardeau and Jackson areas.
