Re: First Post - Sort Of! And what happened to Olympus?
I have an E-500 and am still at the learning level. I am wanting to find a good telephoto lens and am not sure which is best. I also am not wanting to spend big bucks if at all possible. Any suggestions?

Hello Everyone! My name is Barbie and I am new here. Looking forward to sharing some of my work. I discovered my passion in photography in 2011 when I decided to get my Nikon D3100 camera. I bought to take some nice pictures of our kids and dogs and I soon discovered I had great a great passion for it.

Re: Welcome!!
Hello,
This last month I reinvested in my Photo equipment. I went out and bought a Canon 5D MKIII, 16-35mm, 28-70mm & 70-200 F2.8 Canon Lenses. I also invested in Adobe Master Suite CS6 and built a PC to do all the work on. Lastly I got the Canon Pix Pro100 printer.
It was time to get back into a hobby I enjoyed for the last 30+ years. My first real 35mm camera was an Olympus Rangefinder then Canon AE-1 Program followed by a A-1 camera. Then I had a child and my photography hobby took a severe side step to other priorities. I served in the Military for 25 years and I always have had a camera and took pictures where ever I was in the world. I was an early adopter to Digital and have tinkered with it for many years. I have also used Adobe products through the years so none of this is new to me.
Now I am in the position to really start to enjoy my hobby from days gone by. Now I can enjoy it the way I always wanted to. Good Lenses, great Camera body and the ability to go places and capture images the way I want.
I look forward to participating in this forum as I have been on many other forums sharing my knowledge and interests.

Hello ! I am very happy to have come across this community of photographers today. Thank you for the great opportunity. I do have some questions regarding equipment for a Africa Safari trip being planned in the near future. I am not sure where to post my questions so hopefully this is not an inappropriate thread. I was just in Costco and they have a Nikon D7100 DSLR 18-200 for $1749 supposedly good in low light some say no better than D7000
Nikon D5200 18-55 and 55-300 for $1050
Nikon D3200 18-55 and 55-200 for $730
Cannon T51 for $1000 18-55 and 55-200
prices are sale prices until 11/2
thoughts?

Hello
I'm planning on purchasing my wife a Nikon D7100 in the next few days. She has always expressed interest in photography for some time. My plan is for both of us to learn this hobby together.

Hello everyone. I'm an amateur Portrait and Landscape photographer. I've just started photography as a hobby a few months ago. Although I've always been interested in it. I'm really looking forward to getting some unbiased and hopefully brutally honest critiques on some of my photos, and learning all I can from all of you. Thank you

Re: Welcome!!
Hello, my name is Roy & I'm 31 years old. I'm new to photography and videography. I've been studying specs like f stops, shutter speeds, ISO exposure, sensor sizes, and bit rate means. I think I've got it down pat now. I started learning about Camera specs because I want to buy my first Camcorder for 2013 holiday season, but I'm on a budget. I don't want to spend alot of money, because I'm just going to do video tutorials, taking videos of family and friends this holiday season, etc. etc. I've been on this little quest for a little over a month now, and have it down to 2 Camcorders that I want.
I'll go ahead and post a new thread, so that I get a fair shot at getting some replies so people can try to help me.

Re: Welcome!!
Hello
I am new to the forum and know absolutely nothing about cameras of photography and was hoping some of you could help me or tell me the right place to post where maybe someone could. My girlfriend loves photography and one day dreams of starting her own little business. I want to buy her a camera for christmas and was looking at a cannon t3i. The lady at best buy told me that this is a good beginner camera but my only problem is i dont want her to have to buy another one next year. Is this a good one for her, could she make a little extra money with it as she learns more and gets better until she gets a better one? Which one do you suggest???

Re: Welcome!!
Hi all. Newbie here. Just getting back into photography after my film camera broke a few years ago. Picked up a D610 and have been having a blast with it. Its a bit better than my iPhone ;-) Looking forward to learning as much as possible and helping when I can. For now just a joke:
A man out taking landscapes with his new Leica drops it and finds the shutter has stuck. All alone he ponders what to do and wishes he'd brought a spare because in the field opposite, a white horse stands beautifully lit in the morning light. A photo opportunity of a lifetime. He remembers passing a camera repair shop and is about to set off when a voice tells him,
"Turn the camera upside down and tap the base"
He tries it and sure enough the camera is working perfectly again and he gets his shot. On his way home he decides to stop at the camera shop just to get it checked over and tells his story to the dealer. The dealer asks him if there was a white horse nearby to which he replies,
"Yes there was"
"Aaaah" says the dealer, "You were lucky it wasn't the black horse, he knows nothing about Leicas".
