Re: Welcome!!
New here and to photography forums on the internet, but not completely new to photography. Years ago I had a simple Nikon 35mm system and in addition to what I think of as "hobby pictures" I also illustrated magazine articles I wrote and sold for publication. Don't think that made me a professional but it must mean I was ranked some where just above beginner. (LOL)
Quit writing and taking pictures about the same time but a couple years ago the bug starting biting again, this time wondering what all this digital stuff was about. Started with a point and shoot that quickly became un-satisfactory. A friend in the opto-mechanics business recommended a Canon EOS Xs so I got one. Started learning a little and started buying a couple lenses. When I found a good deal on a 135/2 prime I figured I was pretty well hooked and started thinking about up grading the body to better match that one really good lens.
Lot's of looking, shopping and comparing eventually led me to buy a factory re-furbished 40D. That also led to a factory re-furbished 24/1.4 to go with the 135/2 and a 60/2.8 Macro. With the crop sensor I have the equivalents of a 38mm, a 96mm and a 216mm. I figure I have a few years of picture taking before me with these three lenses before I need to go looking for something else.
The one thing that does kind of intrigue me is the idea of a full format DSLR. (smiley face goes here)

Re: Welcome!!
Greetings all!
Just made the leap from point and shoot to DSLR with my new Rebel T2i.
Very exciting. Some of my new pictures are encouragement that I was doing a better than average job with my old Canon SD700 but at the same time I'm learning how much I have to learn, how many features I was ignoring and how much better things can be...
Let the journey begin.

I come here in search of advice on which camera I should upgrade to. I've been toying around with photography my whole life, but have never been foolish enough to believe I was any good haha.
I just feel like its rude not to say hi when joining a new forum - so, hi! :p

G'day new to the forum, I'm based on the Gold Coast QLD Australia.
Hoping to help share tips and pick up some along the way. I'm starting to get clients so my focus is figuring out the business side.
I shoot Nikon, use a Mac. If you shoot Canon and use a PC I'm happy for you. Even happier if you have nice photos :D
Here are a couple of my photos:
