Oops, missed the obligatory sign-in Thread. :(
I'm Steve from the (snow-covered) UK.
Had film cameras for 20-odd years, and then let it die slowly.:o
Last year purchased Sony Alpha 200, and am impressed with Digital Photography. Typed into Google and found you lovely people.

Thanks OC. I don't wish to appear rude or ignorant, but is the Russian script that I've seen around the Forum genuine post or Spam?

Hello! Checking out your site and looking at info posted. I own a Kodak Z8612IS. I like it, except for not having a viewfinder. I battle glare but paid $80 for it and have taken some really great pics and videos (especially after turning off continuous AF). I have hopes to use it for a photography side business, mostly taking action shots but I'm not limiting myself to only that. I post pics on a fan page on Facebook for now until I can afford taking on the cost of owning and running a website. For now it's Pleasure Point Surf but if I get a business license I am going to change the name.

    Hey guys,
I stumbled on this site tonight while trying to find reviews on a sigma 50-500 lense... Looks very informative.
I've been shooting film since the 70's and a year ago sold all and switched to DSLR's Nikon D90's am going nutz with all the Instant Gratification I get from the digital world! I would consider myself a (newbie intermediate) in the Digital world.... Pretty much ok with the camera's since it is after all a box with a hole in it digital or film, but OMG now I have to learn Photoshop.. eeeks.. I shoot only fully manual and raw... so I've been putting more time in post processing than shooting... I hope to learn much here, both on digital and Photo Shop skills..

I live in the country in SW Missouri, have lots of great photo opts here in summer spring and fall, kinda stinks in the winter but, no where is perfect... Any how just wanted to drop in, say hey and be seeing ya around! Katie :D

    Hi all,

I've always had a casual interest in photography until recently, when I purchased an Olympus OM10. It's obviously an old model so it's not without its faults, but I've certainly enjoyed getting to grips with the manual settings of an SLR.

As my passion now predominantly lies in animation and film making, I'm soon going to consider purchasing a DSLR with video capabilities, and so was hoping to get some expert advice, as well as general advice on photography and film making.

I look forward to learning from you all!

Dane, welcome to PR! I think that you will find some help here.

Since your post is kind of burried here in the middle of this long thread, it would be better ask your question on another forum like the Digital Video or the Digital SLR forum.

Of course - I didn't really intend on posing any questions in this thread, merely to introduce myself to the forum. If this was the wrong place to do so then I apologise.

No need for an apology - just didn't want your question to get lost (since I can't help with video). – Terry
