Yes, you CAN photograph your children

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...-watchdog.html

"Warnings that taking images of children and their friends at school events breach their rights are "wrong" and risk preventing happy keepsakes for families, the Deputy Information Commissioner concluded."

Many schools have been banning parents from taking photographs of their children (and others in the class most likely) for spurious "legal" reasons.
Now we knew it was wrong, the parents knew it was wrong, the education authorities knew it was wrong ... what are the odds any one of the schools that prevent photography by parents will back down?

I gotta say Paul, your guys in the UK positions of authority are even more anal about privacy issues than our guys here in the US - and that's saying something!

YAY to the DIC!!! I understand requiring model releases for strangers shooting "anyone" especially children, but some functions it's understood that they are going to be photographed as memories and keepsakes. Lots of friends and fun times are remembered when I pull out the photo albums!!!
I think school functions should stay open season for family members to shoot at will and all others still need school and or parental permission if they plan to use the photos for something more than personal use.
