    Vegas Pix

    Snapshots from Las Vegas

From the Las Vegas Nuclear Testing Museum, this Miss Atomic Bomb, from an era when they conducted above ground nuclear tests in Nevada, and LV capitalized on tourists coming in to watch the distant bursts with special glasses.

That's what the man said ..

A sign to one of the newer famous Vegas hotels.

    Restaurant on the Strip.

These gals pose for tourists (for a nominal fee).

Good stuff,Greg. You should read the book "The day we bombed Utah" You'll be blown away.

John Wayne was filming on a movie set in the desert.... unexpected weather change sent fallout to the area. No-one was worried though. 90 % of all the people on that location died of cancer...including "John Wayne" Read that book...highly rec.

    Re: Vegas Pix

    Rick,

Dang, that's not good! I will have to research that a bit. Incidentally, the museum did talk about a mistake where radioactive dust/whatever was released into the air during a botched underground test. They incorrectly calculated the ability of the underground area to handle the blast, and radiation was released.

Anyway, I am going to post another thread w/ pix of the nuke testing museum. I didn't use a tripod so the low DOF images aren't great, but may be interesting to look at. Check it out also, Armando.
