    Post your wedding photos

Not "your" wedding photos from your wedding (although that's great too)... but if you have any wedding photography you've done as a guest or sole photographer, I'd love to see them...getting ready, details, anything

I'm shooting a wedding in the fall and would love some inspiration - THANKS!

I just did my first "pro" wedding this weekend. I'm still going through the images. Here's one that I worked up last night that I liked.

Here are a couple of mine... now mind you the first two are from before I went digital and so they are bad scans.

I love the bride with the umbrella - looks like a great ad for Hyatt.

The only wedding I've done is my aunt's. It was very informal. The only pic I have scanned in from it is this one:

    Re: Post your wedding photos

Just a little rant... why is it that brides like to do the formal portraits at 2pm in a park with terrible backdrops on a 90 degree day? They end up sweaty, squinting and with an air conditioner in the background.

    Great stuff Loren.

Sebastian... TELL me about it. I'm doing a wedding in early September in southern Alabama (= 90 degrees) outside at 3pm. UGH!

Can you grow gills by September, that might help? I did a Washington D.C. wedding in July last year from 11 - 4m. Yuck! It was so gross!
Here's some from a wedding I did last weekend in Deep Creek, MD. Don't forget love is in the details!

    Re: Post your wedding photos

I did one at the end of July last year, outside in a city garden. It had to be about 90 degrees, full sun, and massive humidity. After the ceremony, I suggested we all go inside and have a drink and freshen up (ie, mop the sweat off our faces) before we attempted and photos.
    I sleep, but I don't rest.

Thanks Sebastian.... I think brides want that sun but don't realize that they usually turn out like sweaty raccoons.

I usually bring my battery pack and a large softbox to fill in large groups, but I pretty much cannot handle the wedding scene while working full time.

    Re: Post your wedding photos

Here are some from my second wedding I have shot. Got my third one coming up next weekend, which I imagine will be my toughest yet. It's so much easier when they don't mind seeing each other before the ceremony. Oh well you can only do as much as you can with the time given to you.

Advice from a newbie to another newbie, shoot a lot, don't ever relax, keep the camera ready at all times, look for things that the bride and groom wouldn't notice, prepare, prepare, prepare.

    here comes the dial-up killer.

    Good Thread Idea!

Great idea, Lisa! I don't consider myself a wedding photographer. Friends ask me to shoot their weddings and I alwasy say no. But I show up with my camera, try not to get in the way of whoever is getting paid, and do my thing. This batch was taken at some mountain biking friends', wedding, in BC, last year. This was the best wedding I've ever been to in my life. It was the most fun and I am the most happy for this couple. They're awesome. I think that all really came through in the photos.

All three of these photos have had a lot of post-processing. Sometimes the blur/flash thing gets out of control. But I love it when it works.

    Re: Post your wedding photos

These two are from my friend Mark's wedding, this spring. The first one is mariachis playing after the wedding. The second is the groom (middle) and a couple of buddies. I've known the groom and the guy on the left for about 20 years now.

I took a fair number of photos at Mark's wedding. But like I said in the last post, sometimes the blur gets out of hand. I wasn't happy with most of my photos from Mark's wedding. I think I overdid it. It's always something of a gamble with the flash and blur.

    Re: Post your wedding photos

These are from a wedding yesterday held at our church. I was not the official photographer, just the officiator of the wedding. But being that I had my camera, I had to take a few snaps. Nothing creative here, just some straight shots.

What was unique about this wedding, however, is that the bride is of Persian descent, and the women in her family wore traditional dresses. Very colorful and very beautiful. The first is, of course, of the bride and groom, then the bride and her father, and then some of the women that attended the reception in our fellowship hall (mother of the bride is the one on the far right).

Also unique was the fact that the family of the bride was, for the most part, traditional Muslim (but the bride herself has become a Christian). It was very difficult for the father to accept this about his daughter, as well as that she was going to marry a Christian man and that the wedding would take place in our church with a Christian pastor officiating, but he chose to support his daughter and acted very graciously throughout the whole event as did the rest of the bride's family. They even invited us to a traditional reception held today in the city of Brea, and there I learned just how well Persian women (and men) love to dance! If only I had brought my camera.
