Good shots, all of them, but I don't like the extreme postwork. Don't get me wrong, I'm a heavy photoshop user (and artist) myself and I recognise all your tricks, but I think you're going a bit too far in my opinion. But hey, if the people you do it for like it... well that's all what counts or not? Photography wise I give it A+ though, well done.

I love your guy shots. Makes them all look like they are cool, not "posed"

Your usual high quality stuff. Thanks for sharing with us. Oh by teh way was that Mathew Perry the second from the left in the group shot? Just wondering he looks awful familiar.

Old Timer, I thought that too!!! ;)

Great stuff Hodgy. Truly pleasing, each and every time.

All I want to know is where I can find that "soft" filter. I'll start with that. I've got PS7 and can't seem to find a way to soften a shot anywhere.

    ummm, ok, let's see here.

image 1, a little color tweak

    image 2. burning the sky

    image 3. burning around edges

image 4. my softar action (which by the way, is exactly what I would have done with film, except I would have used my pro4 filter system and a warm full soft filter)

Image 5. a little burning, and converted to sepia

image 6. increased contrast and sat

    image 7. again, burning in

    image 8. increased contrast.

All these "post" processing steps in photoshop, is exactly what I did when I shot film for weddings. These, IMO are not "overdoing it", I just post processed some simple steps to enhance it.

You can get the softar NoBs Softar Here, there is a tutorial on that page on how to use it also. Let me know if you have any troubles, and I'll help ya out.

    Cheers

As always, nice shots, highly creative. The candids/semi-candids are my favorites.

    Terrific work Hodgy!

I will admit that I am quite the admirer of your skills & talent. You do have a great eye for capturing that fun, special moment in time, and for using your digital and computer skills to create (finish) the image that you visualize.

Thanks for posting - and giving 'us other photogs' artistic ideas.

We are all here to get new ideas, get inspired, meet others in our fields.

    Thanks again!

    Those dudes...

Great work as usual - but those dudes are kinda scary! Is that guy cursing at you in the second shot?!

I like the postmanipulation, I think it gives it a look, unlike "traditional" wedding photography ( plewey) It works, its the perfect companion to your interesting angles. Very inspirational. Makes me want to go out and shoot a wedding right now. lol. oh, and "m sure the guys would much rather have this "cool mafioso / Friends " look any old time in comparison to the "standing on the steps of the alter" look ! Powerful Images.
