    Holga time series

Howdy, haven't been around much since the Holgas have been idle, but here's a concept I've been fiddling with - a series of Holga pics over time. In this case, one for each season. A quadtych, if that's a word.

I took this photo of a roadside memorial late last summer.

And winter - you get the idea.

    Righ On!
Glad to see you are alive and kicking!
This is an interesting series, no matter the camera, but it is especially good with a Holga!
Time what it is all about, and showing it in an interesting way is GOOD!

    BTW...
Check out my site to see some of my newest stuff, I recently revisied.

Neat Idea, and I like the shots. Questions - why did you switch from color to black and white? Was it for a specific aesthetic reason, or just happened to be what you had in the camera at the time?

I had a similiar thought, but then I thought that the best way to show summer MUST be in color, the fall one would be good in color too, but I think fall for this particular scene works in b&w. Winter though is definitely a b&w thing.

Thanks Brian and Megan. Cool new stuff Brian - keep it coming!

Um, it happened this way for both reasons - it was the film I had in camera at the time, but I visualised the concept with the completed series in a composite square (think checker board) with color and b&w diagonally opposite - if that makes any sense. I was considering "hand-coloring" the final spring image in photoshop, or maybe break down and buy a color roll of Fuji 800. Also, I could easily convert the color summer to b&w, but I agree with Brian, summer needs to be in color.

    Thanks for your input!

Don't do which one Brian? Don't do any hand-coloring? Or use Fuji 800?

If you want to see some amazing hand-coloring check out David Niles' Holga stuff.

Course, I can't compete with Niles' hand-coloring, so maybe I should forget about it and use color film...

    Cheers,

    Re: Holga time series

I meant, don't do the coloring thing, particularlly in Photoshop!
I know of David Niles, I think he was one of the first Holga photographers I saw on the web, several years ago.
I am sure you could do a great hand color job, but doing it in color would work too!
Thanks for taking a look at my latet version of my site!
