Yeah, if you look closely the perch is off center, filled the feeder and didn't notice..

The feeder is center frame and I'm using the center focus point.

1/500 gives you a fairly nice blurred wing, 1/1000 is a minimum to freeze the wings, 1/2000 works even better but definitely have to shoot that in the afternoon light.

I think I now have a good feeling for what they're going to do and what to expect from the camera settings. Already have lots of pic's with them wings folded and feeding but they are not very exciting.

Generally, they come in to feed and they will sip, hoover out, come back for a sip and repeat... The trick is to catch them coming in or hoovering

They are so fast though by the time you click they've already made the transition.... then again I was never very good at video games

One other thing I need to capture is the wasps chasing the birds away from the feeder, go figure, eh?

    Cheers, Don

I wish my best hummer pic was even close to this one. Nice job!
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Nice shot, but there is a "nature and wildlife" section, where it would fit in better. I always look at the posts there, not so often here.

Very nice! I've seen them a few times but I don't have any shots of them. If you look at my avatar, I had one check out the red spare paddle on my kayak. I can reach it when I'm paddling - that's how close it was. My camera was right next to it, so I didn't try to grab it because I figured it would fly away. Still, it was really cool!
