Post your website here!
My intention here is two-fold:
1) I am looking at designing a web page soon, and I want to see what everyone has done with their own websites
2) It gives everyone a chance to show off yer stuff :D
Let's try to keep web-related discussion in the Internet and Web Design Forum. But feel free to post a link here!
I'll link to this in the FAQ's page later so everyone can have easy access to it down the line.
Thanks!
Rick

I like to keep mine simple and about the photographs.
Some like to create a site that is an experience.

Alright!!
Let the still under construction website fun begin.
Rick, let's have a sidebet on who's website will be "still under construction" longest!

Re: Post your website here!
Thanks Wendy. I am actually going to go with a friend's hosting company and use one of his templates. Thanks for letting me know though!
btw, I love the picture of the little girl with the leaf on your webpage :)

Re: Post your website here!
Depends... if I update it with new photos every year does it still count as "under contruction?" :D
-
Re: Post your website here!
Here's mine. I wasn't going to post a link until I got it complete, but I don't know if the internet will still be around at that time, so here it is. :D
www.magiclightphotography.com
The "About" and "Services" pages don't have any content, but the galleries are working.

You're supposed to update these things too? I guess I didn't get to it myself... last... year or so... :) Actually, websites are pretty much always under construction I guess.

I really need to update the images, but I like the black tape design.
I'll get to updating the images as soon as:
1 - Verizon deigns to fix the fact that after a week and a half in my new apartment, I STILL DON'T HAVE A DIAL TONE! (but I'm not bitter, no....)
2 - I update Dreamweaver. Which will be sooner rather than later... but hopefully, Verizon will GET ME A DIAL TONE before then.
In the meantime, I'm checking this site when I can from a cafe.

Re: Post your website here!
Why not create a photo blog, there are quite a few around, it isn't an expensive option although there are no e-commerce facilities if you think your work is saleable, (don't we all).

PS Can I ask a stupid question? What's a "Nikon Samurai" This site seems to have more than a reasonable share of them. Are they dangerous? Should I cross to the other side of the street if I see one? (Come to think of it, what do they look like?)

Re: Post your website here!
Hi, I'm just looking around... You people really have some nice photo sites.
I started a new site for wild flowers in my 5 acre yard... but since, I've expanded to the Northern Black Hills and hopefully soon, I'll have more from anywhere here in the Hills.

Re: Post your website here!
Martin,
That's a good idea about photoblogs. I think my eventual website will be sort of "bloggish."
And about us Samurai... yes, we are many in number, and yes, if you use a Canon, we are dangerous  :D
As to what we look like, this should give you an idea...

If you use a Nikon, you can always join!
Thanks for adding your site.

Re: Post your website here!
http://www.facebook.com/Thepointsurfpics is where mine are right now. Sometime in the next few months I would like to get my own site. I have been reading about running one and most say I should have a daily blog. Im not into blogs, at all. Is it really necessary?

If you plan to do this as a profession, even part time, it's all about building relationships and getting your name "out there". Blogs give the opportunity to get new content in front of people on a regular basis. I'm not crazy about them either. I have one and although I don't update it as regularly as I should, it's another piece of the "branding" puzzle. Since I'm not always thrilled about writing "content" I chose a photo-blog format where I simply write a line or two about a shoot (when, where, etc.) and put some photos up from it. A website is a given these days - some work examples, and a way for potential customers to reach you.
A blog can be integrated or not. Mine is through tumblr and just linked. I like tumblr because it automatically posts to facebook and other social media sites in a single click (so if you're already posting regularly to facebook, using tumblr as the delivery method can send it out to twitter and send it out as an RSS feed (you can also propagate your blog automatically by subscribing to other RSS feeds for related stuff)
BTW: Threw another "like" your way on facebook :)

Re: Post your website here!
Hmm now this has me interested. Since I started taking pics and posting online for the 350z club I belong to, I've been watermarking my photos as copyrighted with my name and Flyinion Films i.e. www.flyinionfilms.com which is a website I started for video game videos that I've put together. Now I'm wondering if I should come up with something different for the photos or just maybe add an actual photo section to that site. The pics I've been posting online are actually on my personal site www.metallic-raven.com I'm only doing amateur stuff for now but trying to think ahead a bit if I ever started doing something business related. A new site & name would be as simple as the cheap name registration since I'd just build it on the same place the other two are hosted since it costs me nothing extra to do that other than buying the new domain name.

It's worth looking into. Since I do a lot of fashion stuff and live near Miami I picked up the domain name http://FashionFL.com to more specifically target those types of clients. For an extra $10/yr it's worth it to split that facet off as it's own entity (for me anyway)
