    Pentax Users?

How many Pentax users do we have here? I've had a request to add a dedicated Pentax cameras forum. I'd like to go ahead and add it. But I want to make sure we've got enough Pentax users to make it work. So please reply to this and let me know if you'll use the new forum or not.

    Thanks-
    Photo-John

    Re: Pentax Users?

I'm a Pentax user, born and bred! I used the old classics like the K1000 and Spotmatic, graduating eventually to the *ist. Currently I use the *ist for film and an *istDL for digital (the lenses are of course common to both).

I would certainly use the forum from time to time, especially with regard to accessories, comparing notes on new models, and so on.

I am also a Pentax user . Having our own forum would definitely be a great place to ask questions and learn more about the camera.

I say you combine it with the Minolta and Sony forum.

Canon Digital Rebel with Quantray 19-35 F3.5-4.5 basically Glued on. :P

    Re: Pentax Users?

Hi John...Kim and I are both Pentax users, as you know...I feel that Pentax is starting to come into it's own with it's recent camera releases and lenses. Although it still lags behind many of the other camera companies, it still deserves a place to call home. I think PR would benefit from giving it it's own space. It would also help some of us beginners/amateurs a central place to find camera specific information. GO PENTAX! GO K-TEAM!

    Me! Me! Me! Mi!
(That's a me from each of my rigs ~ K1000 to *ist DS] and a Mi for the K10D that will be here on Monday!!!)

I think Overbeyond has one too but I'm not sure if that's his main system or not.

I'm sorry, but I think we've already had enough input from Canon users about what's relevant for everyone else.

Thanks for sharing, next caller please.

Being serious, a Pentax-Samsung forum would make sense, as the Samsung DSLR is really a Pentax one (or vice versa!)

    Sony Minolta Forum

The reason the Sony forum includes Konica Minolta equipment is the Sony A100 digital SLR is a continuation of Konica Minolta's digital SLR line. That and KM bailed out of the camera business. It wouldn't make sense to combine the Pentax forum as the Pentax digital SLRs and their other cameras are very much their own and deserve their own home.

Excellent idea. Thanks for reminding me about the Samsung DSLRs. It's looking good for the Pentax forum and I think including Samsung is a great idea. Plus, I think it's time we got a Samsung digital SLR for a pro review. I haven't seen much about them yet.

    Re: Pentax Users?

My first SLR was a Pentax and I have a Pentax in the stable now, although unused at this time. I have always been and will continue to be a Pentax enthusiast. I think a separate forum would be an excellent addition.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Hello Trog,
John has done a good job of trying not to alienate different camera users as you can notice in the main menu. However, enough people are needed to "support" a separate forum. I think we now have proven to PJ that there is a need for such a forum on PR.

It is also my understanding that this is not to divide our family of users, but to give each separate entity someplace to go for "camera specific" information and advice.

We Pentax users have started coming into our own on PR and they recognize that fact. I hope to see you on the forum if and when PJ gets it up and running.
