    Winter Has Arrived

It started snowing last night and hasn't stopped yet. Alta, where I have my ski pass, is reporting 37 inches since yesterday.

    WINTER IS HERE - YIPEE!

These photos were both taken with the new Canon EOS 50D and 18-200 IS lens. So far, I am loving this camera/lens combination.

    Re: Winter Has Arrived

Up here its been nonstop rain for the last week or so. (There are occasional lulls, but not frequent and long-lasting).

Snow should come at least 1 month from now.

Bring on the POWDER!!! If there aren't any leaves on the trees, there might as well be snow on the ground! It has been t-shirt weather here all week and it has been nice, but I do love winter. We haven't turned our furnace on yet this year. Hopefully I will be able to log lots of miles in my snowshoes again this year!

    Re: Winter Has Arrived

Probably the same snow storm that left us in the southern prairies with about 10 to 20 cm of snow. But it will be gone by Sunday. Fortunately it melted on the roads as it fell and so, while they were wet, they aren't slippery as they will be in another month or so. Good luck with the skiing.

    Cheers,

    Re: Winter Has Arrived

Nice snow shots.. I too can't wait to get up in it myself... At least Tahoe now has a thin base of 12-20" or so in places.. It's a start..

Hmm, barefoot in the snow... That usually doesn't happen for me without a hot tub and some alcohol, but hey, what'ev wakes you up in the morning...

And yah, saw some ski/boarding pics from some resourceful folks at Alta who didn't mind hiking for their turns. Definitely waste deep on the way up... Fluffy all the way down. Color me jealous...
