    More snaps from the yard and pond.

    Just some nature abstracts-been awhile since I've gone out of my way to shoot photos and today seemed like a good day for it.

    Nice pictures, were these taken with the newest member of the family? BTW I really like the third one, that way the ice has separated and the reflection of the trees come thru

    Thanks James. The pond and the snow covered tree were shot with the new SD550 (I think) and the melted ice and snow covered branch were shot with the 1D Mk II/EF 28-70 f2.8L. I tried to shoot exclusively with the SD550 but ISO 400 has more noise than the 1D has at ISO 1600 or even 3200, so I ended up shooting with the big camera when the lighting was low and flat.

    that last one has a really nice element in the main trunk
    I'd crop to the bottom left corner, take out the top and right
    that spiral of branches is really interesting in its own right, without all the other stuff going on
