    Photographic New Year Resolutions

Hi all .. over the last couple of years I have found it useful to have a photographic resolution or two. Last year the resolution was to develop a portfolio which could be submitted for a distinction from the Royal Photographic Society. This has worked out well and I go before them on March 22nd (fingers crossed!).

This year I want to stop being a photographic "jack of all trades" and seriously start to develop a long-term project or two - really to increase my expertise within a narrower field or two. What the projects might be, I have no idea!

Nevertheless, I have found that resolutions do help to keep me from just "drifting" along without learning anything.

    How about you?

    Best wishes for the season!

    Hi Mike,

I made some overly ambitious goals for myself last year, so I'm not going to do that again this year. Instead, I'll just say I want to learn more about portrait photography. I just got my first real flash, an SB-600, and I plan to get a simple umbrella and stand for it. I just want to learn how to take some decent portraits with this set up.

Good luck with the Royal Photographic Society and your new resolutions.

    Re: Photographic New Year Resolutions

Well, I ended up being paid to shoot for the Southwest Michigan Devil Rays as their team photographer, so I guess that kind of fulfilled a resolution. My resolution for 2007 is to just shoot more and get better. Oh yeah....and to buy at least one new piece of equipment, even if it's just a filter.

    Re: Photographic New Year Resolutions

I resolve to do the daffodil shot I've had in my mind for a few years.

If I do more than one, I'll get confused(grin)
