    New Lens

After much self debating and checking out different websites I decided to pick up the Nikon 50mm 1.8 for around the house(especially for taking pics of the baby). Im looking foward to getting it in the mail. Ive been shooting with the 18-70 for a long time and will continue to bring it out for landscapes but Im stoked to try the new lens.
I seen the 1.8 thread and was just wondering if anyone had any input for shooting with this lens. I still use the D50 so it will be nice to have the AF.

Input? Have fun. I tend to get caught off guard by holding the focus ring when I use the af and it starts moving on me. it's a tad loud too, but that's the only downside. A silentwave 50 would be awesome. remember that just because you can take it down to 1.8 doesn't always mean you should though.

I regularly rotate the aperture ring accidentally and get the FEE error. Just the way I hold it or something.

Other input? Take lots and lots of pictures of your kids.
I need to dust my 50 off. Been a while since I used it.

Is there? Probably something I never checked for but will now.

    Yes, there's a lock on the 50 1.8D lens.

It's handy when shooting on my D300/F80...annoying when I have it on my F3...and then having to remember to shuffle it to f/22 and lock it when I put it back on the first two.
