    Photographers and self image

    can someone please please tell me some photographers or artists that have looked at self image.

    I need some research material and some references.
    Would be MUCH apreciated. thanks alot in advance.

    Take a look at Cindy Sherman. She has been taking self portraites for over 30 years.

    Francesca Woodman as well - there's a book out recently of her work.

    Then there's Lucas Samaras. For some reason I think Chuck Close did some self portraits, I could be wrong, but it's not his main body of work if he did.

    Maybe I'm wrong, but the first thing I thought of when I saw the thread title was of a photographer's self image as in what they think they contribute to the world thru their photography. Maybe it was the fact that I watched a documentary on war photographer Ron Haviv on the Documentary Channel the other night... If this is what you're looking for I'd look for his words, as well as those of Steve McCurry and James Natchwey.
