    Face

Any suggestions on what I could've done better on this picture? Or what could help in the future? I bought a polarizer and a diffusion filter today. Anyways, this picture is clear and everything, but it seems weird to me.

Shot with ISO 400 (forgot to set it to 200 when I started the pictures)

looks weird? maybe because her tongue is sticking out at you? LOL

Seriously, the shot seems just fine to me, and nothing that a bit of fill flash next time couldn't help with the dark shadows. The composition also seems a little tight but then again this looks to me like it's supposed to be fun snapshot, which it is.

I take it that this is your daughter or one of your child's friend?

Ah, no WONDER she's sticking her tongue out at you, LOL

It's a cute shot, really. I would suggest you con, er...ask her into actually posing for a portrait. Try early morning or late afternoon (like about 7:30 now that it's summer), when the light is diffused and softer. Shadows will seem less obtrusive, especially if you use just a tad of fill flash.

Ray pretty well hit it here. The choice of bright sun always creates problems with shadows one way or another. The quickest fix here is add a little fill flash to eliminate the harsh shadowing on the right side of her face. This being a candid portrait your other options are a little limited, a. move her to shady area b. have a friend hold a reflector for you to highlight the shadowed areas c. use a defuser over the subject to break up the direct sunlight and even out the light. Hope these idea help.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??
