    My first micro-stock sale

I logged into my micro stock photography site today to discover somebody has purchased one of my photos. It's a photo I took during one of my off-road adventures in Death Valley! The world of micro stock is just a few cents a sale but it's a really good feeling it being my first.

I signed up months ago and got approved back then (after several tries). I only started uploading early November. I have 9 in my port and just as much rejections. When I see other people work and the amount of downloads they get, it motivates me to keep going.

The hard part is the wait. They have judges worldwide and the turn around time for a photo evaluation is 10+ days. It's a bit painful to wait 10+ days only to get rejected because you missed cloning out sensor dust. I'm still learning their likes and dislikes. My post work has changed much while trying not to do to little or too much. They can be very critical which you have to appreciate in the end.

What I learned quickly is that photos out in public will most likely get rejected if you don't have a model release form. I thought it was only for clearly seen faces. People although blurry and/or backs of heads still need a model release form. I've seen photos with a person at least 300 feet away and barely distinguishable get rejected for not having a model release form.

It's interesting and worth a try.

Congrats, Nice shot too by the way. I've done some micro-stock as well. It's always a good feeling to sell that first one.
