    ISP, good or bad?

That is the International Society of Photographers. I recently got an email from them saying I had been picked out for membership. They had seen some of my work I have at another site and their offer is supposed to be in response to that. Is this just a ploy to get members? Should I be flabbergasted and honored to be picked like this?

Just figured I would put this out in front of the people I like and respect a lot to see what they thought about it. Anyone a member themselves?

Oh, love the new smilies we got.

Saw them, but they don't seem to be working yet for some reason.

I've never heard of that group, but maybe others have. I guess I'd be a little hesitant to join depending on what it costs and what you get out of a membership. The cynic in me thinks that a lot of these places are just looking for money...

I did a search on google and found this forum post on BetterPhoto.com. It appears that these guys have been around a long time, but from what I read and was able to discern, they are nothing more than a vanity press. If your interested, check out this link: http://www.betterphoto.com/forms/QnA...?threadID=8171 Some of the posts go back several years.

HA! Every time I see the letters ISP i think of my Epson printer!

    Ink Sucking Pig!!!

Seriously, watch out for offers like the one you received. These scammers are very advanced. If many of you at this forum are getting the same scam, it's a possibility that this forum has been tapped and your emails compiled.

Watch out on the NET! And don't trust anyone...unless they're Nigerian and want to transfer HUGE sums of money into your account!

Seriously, what I have found in the 10 years I've had my company website running, is that these scammers use extremely advanced methods of pulling their scams. My scam/spam is so highly tailored to photography that it grows increasingly difficult to wade through it every morning (about 200 per day for my main email account).

I would simply ignore it. Your initial reaction is exactly what they're trying to tap into!
