    Moonshot!

I recently read an article on shooting the moon, and I finally got the chance to try out what I had learned the other night when I got my new 55-200mm. This is the best shot I have ever taken of the moon!

So where's the article? Do tell - I'd love to be able to do this.

    Yikes,

A 200mm, never been able to get something this good with 200mm then I remembered  its more like 320mm with digital. I was thinking 35mm.

    Nice shot though,

I found it on some board or another. I will have to look for it.

Acually I shoot with the Olympus E-500. With the E-500's 4/3 mount I actually get a 35mm equivalent of 400mm.

Very nice photo - you can almost reach out and touch it.

Thanks! I just can't wait until I get me the Bigma! It'll be in your face then!

It's really quite simple Larry. In fact I was very surprised. I always tried the long exposuers that I assumed were necessary to shoot a subject in low light, and I always was confused why I could not hit on the right setting for the moon. I always ended up with just a white blob. If you mimic the settings I listed above it will work. The trick is treating the moon as a bright, daytime subject, since it refelcts the light of the sun. The only reason I used a higher ISO, 400, is because that was a handheld shot.

    Thanks Larry!

    Thanks Rob!

Weather has been kinda sour since the night I took that. I can't wait to get back out there and try again!
