Something new and exciting for me ...

    Hi all

Something new and (to me!) exciting - I have been invited to do a print lecture at a pretty major photographic society next week. I have watched loads of speakers over the years, but this is a first for me.

It involves about 90 minutes of talking and, in that time, I will be showing and discussing about 70 prints.

The society's website can be seen at: http://www.sittingbourneps.co.uk/index.php

If you click on programme, that's me under September 24th!

    Cheers
    Mike

    You Go Mike!
Is there anyway you can share your lecture with us?
    Pictures, a pod cast, etc?

I think everyone will learn from your presentation, Mike.
And public speaking isn't foreign to you and that should be quite a bit shorter than an average sermon, eh? psst...that's a joke

I agree with Brian. Why don't you video the entire talk and edit it down to a 5-minute YouTube bit. Then we can all enjoy it...

Seriously, congrats big time. That's a lot of time to fill.

If it were me, I'd talk for 1/2 an hour, then have an hour Q&A period...

Re: Something new and exciting for me ...

    Thanks guys .. it's appreciated

I don't think videoing it is practical in this instance. It's not my own club and I don't have the equipment myself.

However, I have selected the 70 prints and arranged them in their correct sequence to music in a slide show. Anyone who wishes can have a copy of this if you want. PM me if interested. It is mega big though, and needs to be downloaded - 70 pretty high res pictures to music don't come small!

frog .. re sermon length - I was always taught that it was a preacher's job to talk about two things .....

    Talk about God

    and

    Talk about 20 minutes

    Cheers

That is exciting Mike. A very big honor to be selected to present. Good luck, I'm confident that you will be a smash hit with your audience.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??
