Ok, sorry it took so long to posting this. I've been busy :^/
Every year Portland has the Rose Festival that has a number of events. One of them is the Rose Parade. However, there is another event that is put on by kids – for kids. It is the Junior Rose Parade. Last year, I took it upon myself to document this. I started off by walking the route before things started.
Now this is the first time I’ve mingled with professional shooters. And there were quite a few out today. The fact that I had only one body with only one lens was a sure give-away that I was obviously un-credentialed. It was a significant body though, and I think this is why the police let me roam the route.
What really impressed me with the press photographers was the courtesy towards others with cameras. If they saw you lining up a shot, they would jump out of the way and wait until you were through. It really was a pleasure.
And it was a special parade for me. My oldest was in the Escola. And this means that he is graduating and moving onto middle school (at the time of this shooting).
It was a pleasure to shoot this day. I’ll shoot it again when it’s my daughter’s turn.
Thanks for looking,
Tim
