    Memorial Day/Fleetweek pics

Just a few pics (more like snaps) from Memorial Day. The sun was extreme - so was the temperature.....but everyone had a great time! These were shot from the Intrepid and include the Coastguard doing their job during Fleetweek, the Concorde - and 2 crops from planes on the deck of the ship.

Hey Liz! Glad to see you made it to this year's Fleet Week! My favorites are the last one with the great contrast between the sizes of the boats, and the jet fin with the skyline behind it. Hope you had fun!

Nice job Liz. Glad you got to spend your weekend enjoying Fleet Week. You always treat us with great images from NY. Thanks for thinking about us.

Thanks Rick! I did have fun. Thanks for sharing what you saw in the image - I didn't even think of the size comparison.... ut:

The image is "blown" a bit due to the bright sun and reflection on the water.

    Great images Liz.

I spent my weekend on a deck , a boat(mine doesn't have a M249 SAW on it though, like the CG) and at a redneck picnic with my cousin. No images though, because I am in a slump. Images of toothless people trying to eat ribs on monday would have been funny though .

Thanks OT. It was very enjoyable. I was hoping to get back today to watch the ships leave. I really didn't see any ships other than the 2 I posted since it was too hot to walk too far. I wanted to stay in one spot - there was plenty to see right on the Intrepid.

Great shots Liz! Although I liked them all, I'm especially partial to the shot of the Cobra (I think) cockpit..

Thanks for sharing these with us.

Very nice. Glad to see you posting photos. Sometimes I miss being near a big city with a major port. I was down in San Diego two weekends ago, and didn't bring my camera, and of course the port was full of ships. The USS Nimitz was docked on Coronado Island, the USS Shiloh was steaming around the harbor with the crew on deck at attention, and of course the USS Midway is always open for touring. There were other active ships, but I didn't get a chance to ID them. Thanks for sharing. Post more-especially naval ships :-)

    Hey there Paul,

    Thanks for looking.

I hope you had a good time, even though you were in a "photography" slump.

Do you ever go to the City? And the port?

    Thanks Brian,

I love looking at these planes on the deck of the Intrepid. Everytime I go there, I make a mental note not to wait another year before I return.

Thanks! Sorry you didn't bring your camera! Hmmmmm.....

I usually go to Fleetweek every year, but have stuck to the Intrepid. One of these days I'll have to check the rest of the port.

    Hi Nat,

It's sure good to see your around PR! OK - I'll look to see if there are any decent ones left - I didn't do as much shooting as I usually do since it was rather warm outside! And the sun was blazing so it was difficult to get a good shot.
