It has happened before, and normally during October there has been a Chicago gathering and in recent past a couple of NY gatherings.

For California, it's been awhile which is evident by Rick having lived in 3 or 4 different places since the last event. If there is a gathering I would welcome you to come out and meet some of the members.

I've met Charles while in Paris the last couple of times and he's been great at showing me areas of the city that I would never find. That's my favorite part of the forum, the family feel.

    Awesome weather!
Looks like the weather will be in the mid 80s for Saturday. The weekend will be great for our photogathering and for the hikers and bikers on Sunday.

Loren pointed out a problem with the itinerary file which I corrected soon after. Please let me know if you still can't get the file I posted.

Eric, as I mentioned in my PM I am not able to view the file and there might be others who can't view it as well. You could copy and paste the text here for all to see. Thanks for getting things organized for us. So far, everything's a "green light" with me making the meeting on Saturday morning. Can't wait! As I get to meet many of you for the very first time!

Edit: I have to take that back. I can now read the file thanks to a converter. Sorry Eric!

I sent you all a link to a PDF version if that helps any.

I forgot to mention that it would be wise to have cash for parking (2 lots in downtown, 1 in Hollywood).

Is the parking free at CARLITO's??? I'll call tomorrow.

Carlito's has $4 valet parking on Saturday's otherwise you have to find parkig on the street.

    On another note...

Hey SAN DIEGANs!!! Since none of you photogs are coming to the L.A. gathering I'm assuming you all are planning your own Photogathering???

I just picked up my film of choice for the photogathering...Fuji Neopan 100 with 36 exp. Was almost was persuaded to get HP5 but decided to stick with my original plan and will try the HP5 for another time.

I also picked up a nice little Polarizing Filter for only $10 to fit the Canonet. The photo store that I go to has a box full of old filters (like back from the 70s) that they've never sold, so they have them out on display for dirt cheap prices.

    We're almost there, folks....

Cool. I can't wait to look at that camera up close. I won't being doing film on Saturday but we will see. I'll bring the old Canon maybe just for show and tell.

I was going to ask you about getting a polarizing filter for that. After seeing my light meter shoot up with 400iso film and only having 1/1000 max speed, i realized my camera needed sunglasses  I also bought a polarizing filter and lucky for me, it fits all three FL lenses.

    Just a few hours more....

Re: Los Angeles Photogathering this weekend!
I wouldn't worry much about your shooting with 400iso film, Eric. Remember my horse picture? That and the others of my first b/w roll of film was shot using Kodak 400cn. And my Canonet only has a max shutter of 1/500th. The polarizer, however, will bring your exposure down about 1.5-2 stops. Something to keep in mind when shooting with one. I use it on my DRebel when I want to saturate the sky, reduce glare, or give the clouds a little contrast from the sky, like my shots of Morongo Casino. I don't care much for using it to shoot people, though. But it will come in handy on the Canonet when I start to use it for landscape shots.

Oh, by the way, Eric...if you're ever in Redlands stop by Empire Camera on Alabama St., just half a mile south of the I-10 after you exit. They've got lots of good stuff in there and I guarantee you won't walk out without buying something. Oh wait...that's the way it is no matter what camera shop I go into. :p
