Junk on my Rebel AF membrane.. help!

Well, I've got junk on my AF membrane. It doesn't show up on the pictures, but you can clearly and easily see it in the viewfinder. I've tried brushing it out, but that just seems to make it worse.

Anyone got a method of cleaning that thing? It's the AF point membrane above the mirror inside the camera opening. I am scared to do anything in there for fear of getting it dirty and filling it with more dust and particles.

So, how do I get that stuff off? And also, how do I go about cleaning the inside of the camera, the mirror and such. I assume sand and particles accumulate over time in there, so I want to make sure it's cleaned. Thanks!

Sean, don't touch that, get it cleaned by the professionals. I had the same thing on my EOS 30, and marked it, thankfully Canon replaced the screen for nothing only took a couple of minutes for Canon to do it. I live 30 mins from them here in Australia.

Who cleans these? Just canon, or any professional camera store? Don't think there is a Canon place real near me, aside from the camera store that deals them.

There's no canon dealer around here that will do it. If someone has a suggestion, I'd really appreciate it, this is driving me crazy.

Anyone?? It's really quite bad, I tried cleaning it with my lense clothe and a q-tip... that just made it worse. There's no camera service place near me, canon or otherwise.

If anyone has done this, or has an idea, I'd love to hear it. How fragile is the AutoFocus membrane thing in the viewfinder?

I would call him to see if he does repairs to your make and model before you send it in though. If this isn't an option, I would look for a local camera repair facility or get the address of the nearest Canon facility and send it there.

Sean read http://www.powershot.com/powershot2/...rvice_eos.html and contact them regarding repairs. I wouldn't play around with the sensor at all, but then as I said I am close to Canon here in Sydney Australia.

I thought you might have gotten some replies from people in the states more than you have, but at least Brian gave you an address to contact but is that close to you in Utah.

Have a look at the link they should be able to stear you in the right direction. It might be simply take it to a camer repair place they have on their authorised list, you aren't aware of.
