Lake Tahoe - Flume Trail

Jenni and I are at Lake Tahoe for a few days. Yesterday we rode the Flume Trail, possibly the most beautiful mountain bike ride in the world. Tourists do a short version of this ride via a shuttle service. We did the man-sized ride - a big loop that tops out well above 8000 feet. We were on the trail about 6 hours. That's the longest ride I can remember right now.

The Flume Trail proper is a flat, exposed trail hanging above the lake. It's really beautiful and very accessible. All kinds of people ride and hike it. The photo of Jenni and I was taken at the highest point in the ride. I'm not sure what the altitude is. But Marlett Lake, the close one below us, is at 7800 feet. Lake Tahoe, in the background is about 6500, I think.
