This is why I never delete anything.

Taken in November of 2003, these shots never did anything for me. Today, I was just looking at them and something grabbed me. Curves used for B&W conversion.

Gorgeous shots in b&w. Wow. I'd be proud to own these
I don't throw anything away either 'cause one day, you look back and see something that you just didn't see the first time you looked at it.

Talking What I want to know is.......

Were these done with the good camera you had or did you do these with your "other camera"? ;)

    Seriously though...
    These are great photographs Seb.

Nice work Sebastian...Its funny how some images don't grab you at first but when you go back to them later,,sometimes months you think WOW!!I have a 80GB external hard drive where I store my images at full size/raw..I have created a folder which I call "soso" and occasionally go through this folder if searching for that "special" image..

    lovely photos seb,

glad you didn't throw them out! really nice work...i have a box of old slides and negatives at home and i often trawl through them, taking a trip down memory lane. even if some of the photos arn't exactly good, it's worth holding on to them just to compare what you were doing 5, 10 years ago! and sometimes you find these gems that you had overlooked the first time.

    great stuff!

Very nice work. I appriciate how you lined up the window frames between the two buildings.

They grab me too. Nice work.
Chicago's ornamental iron could keep a photographer busy for a lifetime. I like having the plainer windows on the other building seen through these elegant frames.
One almost doesn't notice the inversion but something in the lighting gives it a surreal feeling. It's funny how the light on the steps seems softer to me when seen in it's normal position.

    Good example

As you said, you don't delete anything. I truly believe that the cost of digital storage is cheap enough that you can maintain all of your digital files without deleting anything.

You never know if your photoshop skills improve or even if your artistic style changes. Something that was destined to be deleted can be saved for future quality work like Sebastian's.

    Yes!

You never know. I am so busy that I often don't get to really looking at photos for a while. I have some I've been sitting on for over a week, right now. And I have definitely found that when I go back I like some stuff better. And then there's the possibility that old photos have gained some sort of unforseen value. For instance, what if the building in these photos was torn down? Then you'd have a record of something that doesn't exist anymore. You never know. So unless the exposure is terrible, focus is way off, or they're just bad photos, save them. Storage is cheaper and easier than later realizing you've tossed something that became important.

    These are great shots, Seb.

My favorite is no. 3. I actually like the view through the windows. The contrast of the stairs and the light and view outside the window really works for me.

I'm happy you keep your images - it's a lesson for me - as I throw a LOT away.

    Liz
