    Johnny Appleseed

Kids from my generation grew up with the Walt Disney tales of a man named Johnny that went around the country planting apple tree everywhere he went. It will soon be apple harvest time, and much to my regret I heard that the local orchard has lost 90% of their crop this season. One of my favorite times each fall is the trip to the orchard and those first crisp apples on a brisk fall day. At any rate here is my tribute to the humble apple. The truth is Joy had this little display as a center piece this weekend. I just borrowed it for a couple of pictures.

The colors really stand out and its nice and sharp. The only thing i can dock it for is i can see your reflection on the apples.

I used to go pick apples with family and it was really fun. Also i do remember watching a appleseed disney show along time ago.

Thanks for the comments. I have looked and looked but I just don't see my reflection that you mentioned. I must admit that my eyes just don't function the way they use to.

You have good eyes! For the life of me, I can't find OT's reflection on the apples. I'd like to see it - it might make a cool image.

    Which image?

Yummy! The colors and sharpness are outstanding. I wonder what Themage sees as your reflection is actually the shadows of the apples and the basket?

I can see a reflection, sort of. It looks like he was standing between his light source and the apple. There is a human head shaped shadow on the apples in the first pic.

    Nice shots!

    Re: Johnny Appleseed

Well I see what your talking about now, but I can't remeber being between a light source at any time. The apples were in shade with the sun coming from the left side and slightly behind. I used a reflector on the right for some of the pictures, I was holding it but it was between me and the basket of apples. A little puzzling. Here is another frame where I was behind the basket using the black side of the reflector as a background. I ws triggering the camera with a remote.

    Hi OT,

Those are some handsome stills. No extra elements clutter the composition, and the red cloth beautifully complements the greens.

    Very nice,
    Tim

Thanks Tim. I wasn't sure about that red napkin that I used. I'm glad there is a vote for it.
