    I won my first contest!!

On MTBR.com they had a contest where the best photo from the Sea Otter Classic bike races would win a free bike, and I won! There were many awsome photos, and mine was lucky enough to be chosen, so needless to say I am on cloud nine right now. Here is the winning shot, which was actually my favorite of the weekend.

So what kind of paint sprayer did you use to paint the guys face? And what type mud was used?

Just kidding! Congratulations on the big win! Keep up the good work too.

That guy should get a fender!!!

Just kidding.... You wouldn't have a shot then.

    GM,
Congrats. That is an achievement. There are some great photographers over there at mtbr.com.

Posting ride stories is what got me back into cameras. I started with mtbr.com back in 1998. Now I mostly lurk here.

    Cheers,

Congrats! Great shot - he looks like a cartoon creature. Hope that extra bike will come in handy. If not, I can give you my address...

Re: I won my first contest!!

    Thanks!

My goal is to become a pro sports photographer, and I would love to shoot as much cycling (road, BMX, MTB, whatever) as possible. I would also love to shoot pro hockey, but we'll see. Out of the few photos I submitted, I loved this shot, but didn't really think it would win because of all the great action shots there were. Since its fun to critique your own pictures, I just have to say, the only thing I did to this shot was slightly lightened it, and that one tiny piece of grass coming out of the top of the helmet is driving me crazy! When it gets printed for my portfolio I'll have to take it out.

Congratulations! I love this picture. I can understand why you got the prize. You really captured the action. People don't have to be flying in the air to capture the emotion of the moment.

    Great job! Enjoy the ride!
